• Culture wars and Military Industrial Complex
oldtimer: education was always meant to benefit the ruling elite. It is only when civilizations went from agricultural to industrial that the elite realized that the lower class/farmers needed to be educated so they could run complex equipment...and the rest is history
  • Philosophy is mainly about style (not substance)
2 cents worth: philosophy is more than both, style is something that is followed because it is liking what is seen. substance is where one must go within themselves and examine what others project and how they affect a view. philosophy, is another label/word for wisdom because it not only embraces a way of life, but awakens the spirit to learn and share what others offer.
  • Is a question just fear?
"a question can be just a simple request, it is not related to fear or ignorance. it does not have to be dissected to learn what it's anatomy/physiology is! If you start dissecting what is a common word that leads to language disparity, then communication is in a heap of trouble.
  • "Trust your instincts" -what does this mean and do we have any concrete psychological instincts?
I can only speak for myself. i found that there are many traits that define instinct; critical is survival instinct, then other modes lie passive in the consciousness (which everyone has, but ignore) the list has many twist and turns and depends on what the physical mind seeks. ex: "idiot savant" cognitive perception, the "mind/brain" is a very complicated organ that intrigues research in "behavioral function." (you pose n interesting question that is difficult to answer.)(subliminal vs literal)
  • The Blind-Spot of Empathy
thank you for sharing your thoughts of behavioral insight. Though the empath/psychopaths' differ in their outlook, the census of the "group" determines differences in perception of good vs. evil; one goes beyond the rule to do good, while the other is unaware of the rules of conduct. (scientist have found anomalies on psychopath's abnormal behavior)( the original statement that the empath has a blind spot is false as the empath is conditioned to respond positive, to whatever behavior he/she encounters) ( an empath also is gifted with precognition which helps them to cope with diverse strategies of conflicts
  • The Blind-Spot of Empathy
my two cents: i have found that simplicity is best when fewer words are chosen to describe an observation. to compare an empath to a psychopath is like saying an orange and apple are the same because they come from a tree... The empath's vision is wide, while the psychopath is limited to his/her affliction.
  • Can we calculate whether any gods exist?
as i read all the replies about GOD, i am amazed how people choose complications over simplicity. The word, "god," is a label attached to (allegedly) divinity...Someone who has greater knowledge of infinity vs. limited ignorance/explosive chaos. Just because there isn't a "Santa Claus" does not mean there isn't an intelligent supreme being (known by many names other than God.) Debating what is/isn't, causes a division instead of unity. The law of opposites can either balance/destroy a thought/vision that creates a haven of refuge to guard against a closed mind. ( debates have conclusion, i wonder if a vote is taken what the result would be?)
  • Can we calculate whether any gods exist?
    God… fact or fiction
To say God does/doesn’t exist, must start with a description of the word “god.”
Dictionary explanation: according to certain religion, a superhuman being or spirit worshiped as having power over nature or humans.
If a poll was taken as to the question (does God exist) the majority of believers would be greater than non-believers.
By weighing the (+/- effect) is divided in two groups religious leaders vs scientist. What you get is a potpourri census that neither can prove. There is also a third factor to consider, the impossible made possible (miracles) which requires faith that a request is granted without seeing how it was accomplish without the scientist able to answer what the eyes see and the ears hear. Is the name “God” relevant to what occur, something that no-one can explain, yet many are witnesses to such phenomena. Therefore, the ancient or elders with respect, acknowledge, this act that only an “unseen force/God” could do.
  • Coincidence?
    Coincidence
(the occurrence of events that happen at the same time by accident but have no connection.)
When your thinking of someone…and they call.
You dream of a disaster…and it happens.
A thought flashes across the screen of your mind and later re-call the intuition.
Your late leaving the house, only to come upon an accident.
You say a prayer, and someone is healed.
Someone inflicts pain, and vengeance is return…anonymously.
Could coincidence be part of Murphy’s law, or linked to knowledge lost?
An unraveled thread to our soul?
Is it an awakening of what we lost when our “image” pursued vanity?
Or is it part of our heritage long forgotten in the passage of time?
Perhaps coincidence…is an emissary of wisdom, a vessel of knowledge,
    A redeemer of hope!
Does the answer to the question lie deep within our consciousness
As we meander lost in a world that uses fear to intimidate the multitude
    In servitude instead of freedom?
And as you search to solve the riddle, is there a ray of hope that flutters
within the spirit as it traverses across the plain of lies and deception it created?
Perchance…the solution lies not in the journey, but following a discipline that
quenches a parched and lonely neighbor…
  • Understanding of the soul
a metaphor of the soul...the soul is a young child struggling to build a fortress against the adversity of the sea. the soul seeks refuge in the flesh while seeking the path of humility. and while the soul struggles for understanding, wisdom touches the blade of flesh and it became inflamed. the soul cries in anguish, for it hungers not, for the vacuous kernels of substance. the soul dwells in the temple which glorifies it's existence and forgets the covenant it was given
