  • What is philosophy? What makes something philosophical?

Yes, I am still gathering the pieces of what philosophy truly is. I've studied dozens of thinkers and philosophies, but primarily from an intellectual perspective, not so much a wisdom perspective.

With all of that said, to me, philosophy is about understanding truth. And getting excited when you find out that you've been wrong in your thinking for decades. Perhaps philosophy (for me) is primarily an exercise in different thinking patterns.

It sure would be interesting to involve biofeedback with philosophical training.
  • What is philosophy? What makes something philosophical?
Thank you to everyone who has responded to this thread. I am admittedly still learning how to effectively form philosophical arguments that are informed by learning and experience. I guess I feel intimidated by the sophistication of communities such as this one, wherein active/passive members and visitors are able to so eloquently build meaning and move hearts with their philosophies. And so simply/clearly too. That is what I'd like to be able to do with my own philosophizing.
  • What would happen if the internet went offline for 24hrs
I personally believe that the modern nervous system is so attuned to Internet technologies/services, that any prolonged disruption would result in withdrawal and (ultimately) utter, utter chaos. IMO at least.
  • What is your opinion of Transhumanism?

The overview on whatistranshumanism.org was one of the first websites I stumbled upon while first learning about Transhumanism. I agree, it is a useful overview of the "movement".

I see Transhumanism as being largely a coalescence of individual and environmental conditions that naturally lead a growing number (one day a majority) of people to view technological progress optimistically. These factors are present in every person's life in today's world, whether they're aware of those influences or not. How people respond to the omnipresence of technology is what defines their relationship to the future, now.

Stephen Hawking, Ray Kurzweil and many others are all pointing at the same thing. Even Terence McKenna and Tim Leary knew about this moment in history. What is happening now has been carefully documented, well in advance.
  • An analysis of the shadows
I believe it's because they aren't properly inspired into action. Not enough souls whom have escaped to the surface have returned with the good news.

    Awakening is possible, for anyone/everyone.
  • Is it wrong to have children?

As to whether it is moral or immoral to bring a child into this world right now, I would say that it is moral. Human life is beautiful and valuable in all its forms. Even if the world is burning.

Maybe one of the children born today will invent the solutions of tomorrow?
  • Is it wrong to have children?
It's not wrong to have children. But I it's not wrong to not have children either. I knew from a young age, around 5 or 6, that I never want(ed) to have children. And I never will have children. That is a "good" thing in my book.
  • What is your opinion of Transhumanism?

I am currently rebuilding my website. It will be published there, but for now there isn't much to look at.
  • Is 'information' physical?
What an interesting topic and question. I would indeed think that information/language is physical. And it's generative, meaning that it constructs reality as "it moves" through spacetime.
