  • Welcome PF members!
ssu, I believe we are welcome at both tables of 'thinkers' without judgment. (L)
Back in the MSN days, my home base was "Philosophy And Absurdity" but as you can imagine, not all 'thinkers' called that home base, a bunch of other folks called "Philosophy 4 Everyone" home base.

PnA and P4E, respectively, were as different as they could possibly be under the umbrella of Philosophy. Many of us were members of both sites and were able to post without malicious intent. Others had their respected allegiance and contributed in only one.

Over time, a friendly rivalry was born, like football teams often have with other teams. At times we debated ideas together in what would be PF's shoutbox, other times we debated alone but the times that brought us together as one, was in time of loss. It's a reality that crosses all man made sites, that the person on the other end of the keyboard can eventually mean something to us and just when we thought we had it all neatly compartmentalized, humanity sets in and we are drawn together without recognition of sides, teams or loyalties.

Then I shall keep it as is. ;)

I always make mention to the poster (you) in the event that you do not wish to be cited. I would like to use the words to spur the conversation and your first hand experience in this topic is oh so relevant. What I wrote was the following.
    On "Refugees'
Mayor of Simpleton wrote "On top of this, I found myself speaking with many official, both police and military and had to make effort to get them to see that this is not an invasion... truth is... it looks like one, but really isn't.
They, for the most part, have been far too close to the situation for too long to see that they are dealing with a symptom."
and then linked it back to here. It has a chain reaction but I can delete your name and use your words as a "TPF member" said or I can delete it all together, your call.
And that goes for anyone that I quote, if you don't want the credit, please let me know. Feel free to message me at anytime~

A portion of this reply has been posted on The Philosophy Forum Facebook page. Congratulations and Thank you for your contribution!
  • Things at the old place have changed
If you happen to be a Facebook user, you can *Invite* friends from your friends list, which will show The Philosophy Forum Facebook page. I did and sent out about 25 invites all inclusive of any former forums friends. So hopefully they will find there way here.
I also hope the invite is received with the intention in which it was sent. That intention is one of love of community.

How very odd. In all honesty, Paul never ONCE asked me to make any of the requests of donations or the push for sponsorship that I did. Paul and I are friends and I try my best to make sure I take care of friends, when and where I can, Paul was no exception.
I sent an Instant Message to Eric the first day the Superadmin appeared, no response. I submitted a picture for the PF Facebook page and it was never approved nor did I receive a response. I do hope that the new owners of PF know that only I have written permission from the photographers, some whom are very active in the field professionally, that are posted on the page. I do hope to bring some of their work to TPF Facebook page but one step at a time. I want to bring it up to them but haven't been firm enough on the ongoings to do so.
I am curious as to what he is sniffing for. Keep me updated brother and thank you for watching my back~

  • Welcome PF members!
un, my mentor, my sage, it feels right to ride the rail for a while but know that it is you that I walk in the shadow of, here or there and here is starting to feel right. I am hopeful that eventually even Paul will join us but baby steps for now. It warms my heart to see you here~ (L)
  • PF sold for $20,800
This one sale will give Paul peace of mind to live the next year and a half. I am not sure about you but I could not live on that for even part of a year. This sale was a necessity, not a money grab.
  • Question about costs and donations
    Refunds? On the Internet? X-)
  • How will this site attract new members?
Is it possible to set up a homepage of sorts on Twitter? I sent out probably three posts a week on FB, one was humorous, one was quote from a Philosopher and one quote from a PF Member that linked it back to the forums. Sometimes that one joke or quote would garner 10 new followers on FB, other times it falls flat. Take a look at the history of PF Facebook and you will get a feel for the flow which can always be expanded with some help. https://www.facebook.com/philosophyforums
  • How will this site attract new members?
It is really up to the administrators here. The PF Facebook page, which I was removed editor of with the sale, is still up but not a word or picture has changed or been updated. The PF Facebook page has a site address that directs them to the Forums themselves. Likewise the TPF has an address that directs a reader here.

    Thoughts?
  • PF sold for $20,800
I stand corrected. It was for the sale of PF only. I was unsure as to whether or not the WSN model itself was sold with PF or was going to be retained by Paul, it's creator. I follow WSN PHP Facebook page and it appears in the WSN Development Blog that PF was the only sale.
  • PF sold for $20,800
I am not so sure that the purchase price paid was only for PF. I got a notice this am about hiccups in WSN, it is possible that the purchasers bought the model of the forums, not just our discussion forums. We were the only one operating on donations, the other sites were paying, so if all were included, we have no way to determine it's worth.

Okay I need a list of those who should be Facebook administrator's but here is what I have so far, so please feel free to *Follow* 8-)

  • How will this site attract new members?
I need some ideas of a Profile Picture for The Philosophy Forum Facebook page. Basic letters work but I see that TPF is taken in images on Google. If you can think of anything post it and we can change it as the wind blows or keep it consistent.
  • How will this site attract new members?
Does anyone know Twitter or InstaGram? I don't hold an account for either but it would seem that we could set up an account at both, for The Philosophy Forum. Is it possible that we could bring in too many folks at once, to effectively moderate?
  • How will this site attract new members?
Woo hoo! Sorry about the plural and thank you for the correction because it really matters. I will set up the page and link you to it before it goes live so everyone can give their input, then the administrators here can give fiinal approval
  • How will this site attract new members?
I would be happy to host a Facebook page for The Philosophy Forums . The Facebook page that we had for the other forum brought around 10 new followers a week. It's an idea!
  • What draws people to an online forum anyway?
If you "just looked" then you might want to get to know me before judging me.
I was invited here and I think I shall remain.
Thank you kindly for the expression of your thoughts.

I was hoping to resurrect ModBot by listing names of folks who were here that I could remember, that simple. ;)
  • Question about costs and donations
Thank you for your kind welcome jamarob and for all you are doing to help us stay together. The page you suggest turning on is an awesome function!
As always, let me know if there is anything I can do.
  • What draws people to an online forum anyway?
Interaction with other like minded adults is why I am on the net. Friendships grow out of time spent, thoughts exchanged. Mayor Of Simpleton is my virtual brother, very unlike my older brother and Hanover and I living parallel lives. Or Benkei having little Benkei's running around. Sir2u knows how to get to the heart of my matter and Banno was able to give me the run around till I didn't know which way was up. jamalrob came onto the scene a bit later and to this day, I thought a picture that Wosret put up of himself for Halloween, wearing a tutu and a Viking costume was real! ssu and The outlaw Josey Wales are cool cats as is coolazice! Yahadreas, one of my all time favorite posters. My dear jorndoe has managed to cool my jets when necessary but never too often.
I come here, to the internet to be with friends from around the world and hope to continue for a long time to come.
    Thanks for asking (L)
