  • Q for Hanover: Bannon

I'm highly genre specific for the most part as well, but after reading at least a couple thousand manga, I think that maybe like four were good. Good ones too, I always come across too early on, and because they're fucking spectacular, everyone hates them, so I usually have to wait at least two months between chapters. At least you literally get to age with the characters, I guess.

Anime I'm more lenient on, as only like a dozen exist at all, and even though they come no where near the few good manga, I like about half of them.
  • Q for Hanover: Bannon
What was the last good movie that came out? I think that it was probably Inside Out. And what do you think was the best movie ever? I know that since Utena Adolescence Apocalypse exists that that isn't really a fair question, but we'll just take that off the table. Barring that, I think that Nausica of the valley of the wind, followed by Princess Mononoke are tops.

I don't give much of a shit. Being what I am makes it difficult to retain any dignity at all in this world. I can't be humiliated anymore... but this comes at the cost of a lack of trust, and belief in others.

I'll figure out how to just go for it someday too. I'm like an expect at putting shit off until later though. Fuck future me.
  • Q for Hanover: Bannon

Hollywood needs to ruin Utena. I promise that I'll still like it. Even if they last airbender it.

I should do something like that. I don't think that I've ever made anything where I used a recipe. I just kind of throw in the things I want, and cook them till they're done. They usually do look like art projects of sorts when I'm done... elementary school ones at least.
  • Q for Hanover: Bannon
I think that we should all hug it out.

Cooking is complex... and I'm bad at it... so I get someone else to do it.

Okay, those things are pretty sweet too, but are means to ends...
  • Nietzsche's view of truth

He only makes explicit this view on truth in an earlier essay, but I doubt that he holds to it by his mature philosophy.

He though, continually speaks of "lies" as a counter-balance to truth. The first example seems to me to be using truth as honesty. When you're lying at least you know the difference. The truth is risked, and muddled, but not entirely abandoned... conviction not so much.

The second seems to be indicating that mystic experiences have no sensuous content, don't point at anything in experience. They aren't even superficial, as they aren't about anything at all.

Again, I don't think that he holds to this view, particularly not as a conviction, lol.

Understand though that Nietszche isn't on a crusade, he isn't an ideologue, he's a troll. He looks for hugely successful, impossible to affront beliefs, traditions, opinions or institutions, and then he attempts to attack them. He does the opposite of going for the weakest, or easiest target.
  • Nietzsche's view of truth
Nietzsche denied the reality of universals, so that all concepts, or ideas were metaphors, which equate things that are inherently unequal, and are alive and useful only to the extent that they have sensuous power, or point to things in your own experience.
  • Might I exist again after I die? Need I be concerned about what will happen to me in this life?
Not to mention that if nothing stays the same, then how can we continue to identify it later in the future? There's clearly more of an interplay, or tension between difference/sameness, but this is clear from the very get go. You and I are both humans, but we don't have the same exact parts or features. "Red" can be attributed to many things without sharing a single physical part.

What's way more interesting is that we're fucking doing it on purpose. We are things, and have certain forms because we will it, work on it, strive for it, and make it happen.

I told a self-proclaimed prophet that I know the other day, after he was talking lottery winnings, and prophetic dreams that I don't wish, or hope for a particular future, I demand it. create it. I make it happen. I don't hope, I intend.

Point being that that is clearly a one way parts sans wholes view of things. The problem is just flatly denied, or attributed to "convention". There's a real problem of universals and continuity that cannot be coherently denied.

    Love is all you need...
  • Might I exist again after I die? Need I be concerned about what will happen to me in this life?
Memory, imagination, obsession are really all that are at play. Being aware that someone else is about to be tortured is a lot more difficult to address, and deal with...

When it's me, I will, for one thing, not really know what torture is even like, and will probably be imagining it to be a lot worse than it is, be worried about long term effects, or perhaps death. Like for spies, they don't teach you how to resist torture, they teach you how to deal with being broken. The only reason one would want to resist spilling the beans is if you are reasonably sure they're going to kill you afterwards, then you should probably keep them lips sealed for as long as you can. In both cases you're putting off the inevitable, but when they just want the info, and aren't going to kill you, and it will stop the torture, then you might as well give it up. If they're going to kill you afterwords, then you might as well tell them nothing, and make them break you.

If you're just sitting in the cell, then even if you're absolutely obsessed with the impending torture, you'll still forget about it and think about something else at least once, and then you'll notice in that moment that right now, you're fine. Maybe even feeling pretty good. Well rested, full of gruel or whatever, and everything's fine. Thinking about all of those things you won't get to do, and all of the future horrors is just what you do all of the time right now anyway. The only difference is that you imagine the physical torment of torture to be so much worse than psychological pain, but is it?

That "unquestionable dominance" remark was a joke. It doesn't matter how strong and fit you are, God, or Nature might be nodding their divine heads, but people care about how decent and sufferable you are. Having people come around you merely for resources, food or shelter is the kind of relationship you have with pets and children, not peers.

All of the strength in the world won't bring you any closer to someone's heart. They may want what you have, or to be like you, but that isn't the same thing as knowing and loving you. That takes humility, vulnerability, and softness.

It's not about how hard you can hit, but rather, how hard of one you can take. People that espouse such a view clearly fear that they can't take much.

No, I stopped caring about that awhile ago.

I don't really recall what specifically I was looking up, or wanted to do when I first looked up philosophy forums, and joined. I had moved on from a creative writing website, which is where I started online, with poetry and short stories. My little brother had suggested that I tried it, and was also a member, a long with a few other people I knew. After I had established my unquestionable dominance, I of course got bored of there, and was really getting into the atheist thing. I was still sick, and hated everyone, and the universe -- so it made lots of sense to me at the time. I could not accept that my vicissitudes were intended... that this could be done to me on purpose. I was a decided atheist by thirteen, having read the bible, looking for everything that was wrong with it. I didn't really get into it or anything until the new atheist movement, which I found attractive. I was posting on RD.net, and following more science documentary blogs, articles and things, and I watched a lot of arguments, as well as participated in a lot of arguments. I was deeply passionate about it too, because I'm not the fucking crazy one, they are.

Anyway, that's about the time that I joined the forum. There were a lot more believers around back then too, and I used to argue and argue and argue some more with them.

Oh... shit... sorry about that. I said some anti-American sentiments... solely directed at, and in passive-aggressive response to Trump supporters, and with the intent to be obnoxious, and annoying. Everyone else in the world besides those couple of people are collateral damage.

I apologize, and don't have anything seriously against Americans, I was just being a dick on purpose because I was annoyed at Trump victory gloating. I'll refrain in the future.
  • What features could an non-human sapient being have (you can post non-sapient too)?
Instead of scales, skin, feathers, goo, light, or anything like that it has something else. Instead of bones and muscle, bladders, exoskeletons or anything like that it has something else.

    It communicates with odors.
  • Religious experience has rendered atheism null and void to me

Well, a watched pot never boils... so I think that if you just keep staring at it, it will feel too awkward and creeped out, and not be able to perform.
  • Religious experience has rendered atheism null and void to me
Water boils at room temperature in a vacuum.
  • Might I exist again after I die? Need I be concerned about what will happen to me in this life?
Cliches are of course cliche because they were overused tropes, that doesn't mean that one should ignore them on account of over exposure...

Fear of death is a fear of life. Ghosts have "unfinished business". When you've done everything that you've wanted to, you won't mind.

  • So Trump May Get Enough Votes to be President of the US...
Really, when you think about it, white is full spectrum... it includes all of the colours of the rainbow brozillas -- and white, being the category itself, transcends all of the colours within it.

  • So Trump May Get Enough Votes to be President of the US...
Skin color isn't everything. I know a bi-racial guy, and I had no idea, he just looks like a handsome white guy with a super awesome tan.
  • So Trump May Get Enough Votes to be President of the US...
Everyone knows that that's all pretend though, right? I mean, I could say racist stuff all day and none of my family or friends or anyone that knew me would care. It's just that we think all of the strangers we're trying to impress would care...
  • So Trump May Get Enough Votes to be President of the US...
I'm not up with all of the latest buzzwords, so I didn't know what "alt-right" was until the explosion of use I'm seeing for the first time... so had to looks it up.
  • So Trump May Get Enough Votes to be President of the US...
I think that I may be just too Godly, or too beastly to understand politics...
  • So Trump May Get Enough Votes to be President of the US...
I very rarely seriously consider, nor am effected negatively by race issues. I'm super white. I don't really even get that? Is that like, saying that movies like that support racial purity, and segregation because they're never bi-racial couples? If so, then I really never considered that. I'm always worried about how there aren't enough trannies, and dykes, and fags.
  • So Trump May Get Enough Votes to be President of the US...
Lol, you know that all of the Trump criticism did make me like him more, and want to be on his side more. That's just how I am, I like to side with the underdog, as it were. I never really heard anything about Hilary, anything funny quotable, or silly that she had to say or did. It was just that mirror practiced smile, and nothing really memorable.

I considered earlier today, that maybe all of the free publicity through criticism of Obama had a lot to do with his winning so well, and in this case may have had a lot to do with his winning.
  • So Trump May Get Enough Votes to be President of the US...
If you're worried, you can rest assured that he knows words, and has all the best ones.
