  • Is belief in the supernatural an intelligent person’s game?
In the OP you said the gods or God does not have good moral fiber. Why do you say that? Which religion are you talking about? — christian2017

Both Christianity and Islam, slave holding ideologies, have basically developed into intolerant, homophobic and misogynous religions. Both religions have grown themselves by the sword instead of good deeds and continue with their immoral ways in spite of secular law showing them the moral ways.

Jesus said we would know his people by their works and deeds. That means Jesus would not recognize Christians and Muslims as his people, and neither do I. Jesus would call Christianity and Islam abominations.

Gnostic Christians did in the past, and I am proudly continuing that tradition and honest irrefutable evaluation based on morality.
    Gnostic Christian Bishop

You said Slave holding, why do you phrase it like that? If i owe you $1000 in someways i'm your slave. This is a very ancient concept. Globalist International Bankers enslave people, i can promise you that. Lets move on to the next subject because it appears you don't understand the modern political and economic situation we live in. If someone owes you $1000 are you going to expect them to pay it or not? Please don't make assumptions about my ethnic nor historic ethnic background. You can however make the assumption that i consider myself a christian.

As to mysogynous, i disagree with that. How do you come to that conclusion? There is nothing mysogynous in the whole Bible other than people in the old testament making poor decisions (keyword is people). Many practices in ancient times were based on a violent almost anarchisitc (note the use of anarchy) world they lived in. Women typically only gain rights when economic factors are stabilized (read civilization). Having extra physical muscle and also the willingness to die young (normally associated with male rather than female) is a biological unfair advantage if you live in a world ruled by hand to hand combat. China which is in some ways an Atheist country is guilty of more oppression of femailes than any country in world history.
  • A Proof for the Existence of God

your probably right, simply because different backgrounds and chosen mind sets effect our perception of reality. For my own sanity i won't reply to what you say too much. I can't stress this enough, you are brilliant!
  • A Proof for the Existence of God
Well, but what is acting? Are we talking about shape-shifting, or? If so, then we are talking about an old man in the sky sometimes. It would just be that we're not only talking about that. — Terrapin Station

I can't speak for Dfpolis, but I'm guessing he might draw a distinction between actually acting, vs simply having the ability to act. So God can act as an old man in the sky, but probably just doesn't on account of the whole thing being... kinda stupid really...

I've yet to see you not (keyword not) say something, brilliant. You would impress me more if you threw in something dumb. Watching you is glorious. Please show some humanity. lol.

even if i get kicked off this site, atleast i found the author "lovecraft". Thanks Theologian.

50 cents on amazon. consider it done.
  • A Proof for the Existence of God

i had a manual transmission (delivering pizzas) and i burned up two clutches in two years. I don't drive a manual transmission any more unless in the future its for a truck company.
  • A Proof for the Existence of God

You mention lovecraft. The author was born in the same city where i had my first memory in life. I lived in providence Rhode Island at a young age. I love coincidences. This is pertinent to the OP because you mentioned Lovecraft.
  • A Proof for the Existence of God

A few. Like i said, i can change oil but other than that i can't fix a car essentially. I just think in the day and age we live in fixing a car is a person's greatest asset. (top 10 atleast).

    Just my opinion.
  • A Proof for the Existence of God

you are one of the most intelligent people i've come across on an online forum. Certainly much more intelligent than me. Do you know how to fix a car? I don't.
  • A Proof for the Existence of God

I agree with what you wrote but you might want to expand on it to fill in the holes. I'm going to put in my journal and analyze it line by line.
  • A Proof for the Existence of God
I will be reading Lovecraft or atleast attempt too.
  • A Proof for the Existence of God

lol. no comment. i'm going to be accused of trolling for this post but it might be best for me to get kicked off at this point. Have fun Theologian, but not too much fun :)

Given the nature of the universe in which we find ourselves, why on Earth would you conclude that?

The Abrahamic God, whatever else you might say of Him, is surely infinitely more plausible than that.

Although personally, I think the most plausible theology is Lovecraft's. Ironic, considering he never represented his own writings as anything other than fiction.

You seem very intelligent. I'm not sure what to say. I don't usually do this but if you would like send me a private message. No wrong answer.

send me a private message and i'll tell you what i was suicidal over. Other that i can't answer your question out in the open. Not idealization.
  • Understanding suicide.

just my opinion. I've felt plenty of guilt over the years.
  • Do we need objective truth?
Some humans already agree on some things. What about those who don't agree, what should we do in your opinion? Force them to change their mind? Lock them up? That's not the dream society I have in mind. That's a society ripe for totalitarianism, tyranny. Sure, tyranny seems fine when you're the tyrant.leo

I agree with what you said. These are all bad ways to deal with a problem. Certain types of extreme sexual perversion should be dealt with severely. I'm sure you would agree with that. Murder can't go unhindered, and i'm sure you would agree with that. Where is it you feel we are in disagreement?
  • Understanding suicide.

I agree. Suicide is usually caused by a person having some measure of ability to see reality for what it is but at the same time not being able to solve it. I would encourage people who are suicidal to deal with their guilt before ever getting married. I believe the single person can solve suicidal thoughts simply by moving to another country. Suicide is very sad and i wouldn't wish it on Hitler.

What's the whole deal with suicidal idealization? I mean, psychologically what is driving the mind to generate these thoughts? Does this happen on a subconscious level? Freud called it the death desire or instinct; but, is that view held to this day?Wallows
  • Pain and Pleasure, the only real things?

i'm not the most articulate person out there but i'll try. Tools that promote positive feelings in people. Tools that promote negative feelings in people. Tools that promote some measure of both.
  • Understanding suicide.

guilt is the most common reason in my opinion. I believe there are more practical ways of dealing with guilt and depression then suicide. Suicide draws people a way from what little beauty is in this world. Suicide leads to future suicide among other people. I don't really see suicide as just a bad reflecition on the person who commits it but also a bad reflection on society.

I've often promised my self that i would sooner cut something off from my life or cut something out of my life before taking the final plunge. Becoming a Buddhist monk isn't entirely out of question for many.
  • Pain and Pleasure, the only real things?

I believe this notion you put forth is commonly underplayed by conservatives (i'm a conservative to some degree). Some things we sense are in fact extraneous to pain or happiness. Perhaps somethings are tools to how help us feel better or feel worse or they are tools that we'll use later at some point in the future.
  • Atheism versus Agnostism

your welcome. as you can tell i'm so compassionate. lol
  • Atheism versus Agnostism

i dismiss your opinion everytime. Not everyone else.
  • Atheism versus Agnostism

don't pretend you would listen to any of my arguments either.
  • Atheism versus Agnostism

who said that? Its not all or nothing.
  • Atheism versus Agnostism
in reference to argumentum ad populum:

To completely dismiss the opinions of others at all times is a sign of narcisism. We should all value atleast somebody else's opinion.
  • Atheism versus Agnostism

based on previous conversations between me and you specifically: no comment.
  • Do we need objective truth?
To say that in my view there is no objective truth is not to say that nothing matters, it is to say that some things matter to me, and what matters to others is not necessarily the same as what matters to me. Why would something not matter to me just because it doesn't matter to everyone?leo

Despite the growing popular opinion, humans must work together and agree on some things in order to make a society work. Common values is important to some extent.
  • Do we need objective truth?
apathy can sometimes be a good thing and sometimes be a bad thing, but we need to be consistent with other people when arguing about what is important or not important.
  • Do we need objective truth?
if i say nothing matters and then i have somethings that i hide that are in fact important. That is a contradiction.

If i say some things matter, but still hold that some things matter alot. That is not a contradiction.
  • Do we need objective truth?
the good news is that many of you post modernists have the rest of your lives to realize the double standard of the post modernist position. As to the older people, i blame a lack of understanding in the 1960s (when post modernism took off in the societies of the world) to blame for the older man's acceptance of it.

Ignorance and bad choices make us better people than those who know full well between right and wrong and do the bad choice anyway.

We all need to forgive ourselves and move on with our lives. For those of you who are going to attack me on this last sentence, i would like to remind you that emotional health is a universal concept (keyword: universal) and also is paramount to a healthy culture.

If we aren't willing to put extremely bad people out of thier misery (for whatever reason) then i believe we should give them a way to be happy every day using practical means.
  • Do we need objective truth?

thanks for the concise answer to a very basic notion. I agree with this completely. Most post modernists dismiss many important things and then they have a handful of things that they feel are important, but God forbid anyone argue with the post modernist's list of important things.
  • The common man has always been there and endured it all.

For thousands of years mythology and religion was a chief source of "art". Many archeologists would attest to that fact. In some ways anything we hold in high esteem is similar to religion, right wrong or indifferent.
  • Atheism versus Agnostism

If 3 people claim to have seen something supernatural or extra-natural (ofcourse they could be lying)
then i believe for someone to say there are no extra-natural nor supernatural occurences or god like entities, then the notion of gods or a God cannot be dismissed without evidence. Atleast not completely. I believe Agnosticism is acceptable because of the uncertain world we live in and it appears God or the gods are in a constant game of hide and seek.
