First of all, I wish you all a Merry Christmas.

We have a Christmas custom in Spain which consists of buying a lottery ticket and sharing it with friends, family, and loved ones. I decided to buy one ticket and share it with you, mates.

Here is the lotto ticket–it ends in zero! The serie is 133.

As you can see on the reverse, the series of jackpot are:

The first prize (el gordo): €4M
    The second prize: €1.25M
    The third prize: 200K
    Fourth prize: 60K
    Fifth prize: 1K

Because the €200 ticket price may be prohibitive for many purchasers, each of the pre-printed tickets is actually a perforated tear-apart sheet of ten identical sub-tickets (or fractions) sold for €20 each. Each one of these fractions is known as a décimo (one-tenth). Each décimo is entitled a ten per cent of any prize that the ticket has won.

Rules: Each ticket has a unique five-digit number (known as a número) and belongs to a series (serie), with each series containing 100,000 billetes. In 2025, there are 198 series, meaning 19.8 million tickets are issued.
The draw involves two machines: one with 100,000 balls numbered 00000 to 99999, and another with 1,807 balls representing prize amounts. Prizes are distributed across 16 tiers, with the top prize being €4 million for a full billete, which equates to €400,000 per décimo if won. The prize money is shared among all holders of the winning number, regardless of how many décimos or participaciones they own. For example, if ten people each buy a €20 décimo and the full ticket wins, each receives €400,000.

    More information: Spanish Christmas Lottery.

The drawing will take place on December 22. This Monday. You can follow it live here: Rtve play.

The point is sharing the jackpot; it doesn't matter the amount won!

    Best wishes!
    Javi.
