    How about Rebecca Goldstein?

I don't know much about Rebecca Goldstein... But there are some omissions: Sarah McGrath, Marianne Talbot, and so forth.

The only one I like is Anscombe - so she gets my vote! Anscombe has profound things to say. Maybe I would've picked Philippa Foot but she's not on there.

I voted for Gillian Russell, but Anscombe would be a rational choice, too.

Rosalind Hursthouse is someone else I would consider.

Some of my favorite female philosophers:

Susan Haack, Martha Nussbaum, Marjorie Grene, Ruth Barcan Marcus, Christine Korsgaard, Susanne Langer, Annette Baier

    None were on the poll.

    Who picked Hannah Arendt? >:O

Susan Haack and Ruth Barcan Marcus are unfortunate omissions...
  • Moliere

I picked Arendt. Certainly my favorite, though Judith Butler was a close second.

I tend to think philosophers who challenge my beliefs the most are my favorites, and she did a superb job on that front.

Ya, Arendt is fucking awesome (voted!). This list is a rather sad, barebones one though, missing some pretty much all of my favorites - Alicia Juarrero, Maxine Sheets-Johnstone, Adriana Cavarerro, not to mention some incredibly important lasses I'm not that big on - Martha Nussbaum, Iris Murdoch, Simone de Beauvoir, Simone Weil, etc
  • Moliere

Martha Nussbaum is also one of my fave female philosophers, personally. Her work on late antiquity hit home for me.
