Seriously. Just because we are stupid and focus on negative things more than positive it does not mean there is nothign positive going on.

Yes, given that AI makes people dumber and lazier and that it has disastrous effects on the environment, while also mainly benefitting tech companies and powerful people while putting ordinary people out of work while, ultimately, being nothing more than a glorified search engine, I cannot see how AI is anything to be optimistic about. We should tear down all the datacenters and stop using it ASAP.

i think artificial intelligence could kill everyone like in the terminator series, but other than that it's an extension of the kinds of technology we already use (computers, for example, are like artificial intelligence). I also think we should be careful about believing we can fully remove the human element in artificial intelligence, or believe that it really can act on its own.
