Also please be kind to ProtagoranSocratist. He's new and feels a bit bothered by his own perceived personal attacks that have happened on these forums. He generally seems like a nice poster and we want him to feel welcome. I think we can all agree it got heated in here and let bygones be bygones for another thread.Philosophim

Dude (or dudette, idfk) i appreciate your kindness, but this isn't very true...Bob has revealed that i am not a kind poster. But let me re-iterate why i still think he has serious mental health problems: he complains incessantly about how people treat him on here. He has also been trying to get me to forget about how he has said these two things:

    -transgenderism is mental illness

-he wants to ban drag shows

These both would understandably offend a person who considers themselves trans, considers themselves to have a legit mental illness, and people who sympathize with transgender people. However, for the sake of polite argument, i did not lash out directly because of these claims.

No: i have lashed out because Bob Ross wants to be beyond reproach even though he keeps making false accusations and disrespectfully pulling me back into this duscussion. He's clearly an evangelist, i'm clearly a flamer, we should both be banned from the message board based on the rules. Me, for being cruel to a hypocritical piece of shit, him for using whining about persecution to evangelize his stupid fucking christianity.

Be a little kind to yourself too. You're learning your way around these forums, and this post got a lot spicier than normal. Most of the posts here are low key discussions about different philosophical approaches. Its perfectly human to get emotional at times here. Trust me, we've had real trolls who would put your post to shame.

I think everyone has gotten to say what they feel in this thread, and I also ask a little forgiveness for Bob too. He felt pretty attacked on this thread, and he's human as well. I've spoken with Bob many times over the years and he's honestly one of the best people here, constantly coming up with new ideas and approaches to subjects and willing to talk to anyone politely. To be clear, I am not saying anyone is right or wrong in their feelings here. If you feel Bob was overly defensive or didn't get a good first impression, I simply ask you to give another of his threads a read and let this encounter be an exception to move on from.

But this gets at why I want to get banned; to me, notification systems that get you hooked means that everyone is one type of troll or another. This is what i learned from reddit, which is a much harsher and toxic environment than this message board. You don't even have to make yourself vulnerable by hurling insults on there, you can baselessly attack someone with a downvote button.

If Jamal doesn't want to ban me, then that's up to him, but unfortunately he will have to deal with the little bit of power i have as a typical member if he doesn't. I don't want to force him to do that...

I have also used multiple chat spaces online that didn't have any moderation...so i was free to be insulted and harassed, and i was free to do the same. What i have learned is that everyone is a troll. I felt particularly stupid and cheated by this thread overall, because i wanted to be sympathetic towards Bob Ross, but the continuous "they're persecuting me" seems like the little boy who cried wolf. Idk, maybe he got sucked into flame wars mid thread with other users...I tried to explain why complaining about big groups of people would logically lead to that kind of behavior, but it doesn't seem like he wanted to listen. I've read as much of this thread as I can manage, but the utter lack of clarity and nonsensical identitarian nature of the discussion makes it way too difficult for me to read and properly judge the posters.

I don't want to endlessly talk about the transgender conundrum, it's disrespectful to want me to tolerate that. I'd overall appreciate more respect for the scatterbrained, low-attention span, multi-faceted format of the forum. There's nothing wrong with discussing a particular aspect of someone's posts, there's nothing wrong with stopping reading something mid sentence to respond to a small aspect of someone's post. People do it all the the time, I haven't even been able to read all of my discussions yet...so i will not chastise or flame anyone just for not understanding something the first time around. I prefer just to try and re-iterate my position if someone doesn't understand something...i'd prefer to change my position if i have made a mistake instead of whining about how others don't agree with me. I tend to assume that my positions are subject to change with new information...but if someone is fucking lying to me, or simply trying to get me to agree with something that is false (IMO, christianity in general, sorry christians), then i'm not going to let them guilt me into sympathizing with them. If someone can guilt you into sympathy, they can do a whole lot more to you as well. It's the classic demagogue strategy; exploiting the tension between wanting to "sympathize with the human" in them, and pushing you towards becoming part of the herd.
