I'm not sure why it being coherently reducible is important. Classical structure lead to atonality, and then minimalism rebelled, but maybe that rebellion was just the next logical step. I mean, atonality continued and continues, even now. But now minimalism is replaced by post-minimalism. Some examples: John Adams, possibly my favorite post-minimalist composer.
