“If we’re just insignificant specks in the universe, what is the point in doing anything?”

So your answer is: to leave a legacy, if you’re the kind of person who wants to leave a legacy, and if you’re the kind of person who just enjoys life and doesn’t worry, you should just enjoy life and not worry. Is that a fair summary?

more or less. However you define your purpose: whether its something purely personal or something with huge transgenerational impact/legacy, you should do your best to manifest that.

And always question whether you want to take on the responsibility of big dreams. Find out what you truly want to do with the voice you have as a human being while you're alive

    Fair enough.

I should probably respond to the OP instead of just badgering Benj…

If your question matters, then there is something that matters, a speck of significance at least.

You are that being for whom being is an issue, precisely because you’re “like dust in the wind”. It’s the gods who will never find a reason to do anything.

What rational grounds do you have to make such a statement? Filling a bucket with sea water, as we have with our massive, powerful telescopes in the last century or so since Edwin Hubble, and not finding a whale in it, does not entail there aren't any whales in the sea, does it?

As it happens, though, you are not just an insignificant speck, you are every insignificant speck, and every sentient being for all time. So make yourself comfortable, because you're going to be here a while.unenlightened

Is that an enlightened form of solipsism? If so, you are not living down to your name
