About Rich Butchko

About I am 79 years old. I have a BA from Penn State U. In sociology, an MSW from West Virginia University, and an MA from Duquesne University.

My career includes two years’ service in the military (Army), steelworker, Director, Production Goods and Services division of the United Way of Allegheny County, sales representative for Xerox Corp., faculty member in social work and psychology (various colleges and universities), President of the Yellow Wing Group, Inc. an educational consulting and association management company

My life interests go back to a very early age, a time in infancy and toddlerhood when our entire lives are consumed with understanding the nature of reality. This interest has actually been a consistent, strong, and deep interest throughout my life. It has taken me through science, Western philosophy, and social sciences. Throughout these years, I have had an abiding interest in and study of Eastern views, Tibetan Buddhism and Chineses Hua Yen Buddhism, in particular.

My current interest gies back to the beginning and remains my life interest in understanding the nature of reality, particularly Tibetan Buddhism. Several years ago, as my studies intensified, I began research on what I hoped would be a work to help create a bridge between Western views in science and philosophy and Eastern views. At my age, I am transitioning my goal from writing a book to simply calling this activity my “hobby.”
