A shift in identity? What do you mean by that? Is that a way of saying that "they" should be forced, causing a shift in identity indeed? Whatever one's reason, be it irrational (I just dont want) or hyperrational (giving you a book full with reasons, or arguments, as you probably call them), let them be! Who are you to decide over them? They might be stupid, but do they harm you? If anyone then its themself they harm.

  • What is Information?
It's like the difference between a hot gas and the same gas at absolute zero. The gas contains a high entropy. The solid zero. The sweet temperature in between contains the most interesting configurations. Of course there has to be flow of heat or else there is static equilibrium. A medium between a hot gas and absolute temperature that is rotating too, can develop very interesting forms and processes. If you add ingredients to that medium, shape it in the form of a sphere, put water on it, amino acids, etc. The phenomena get realy truly interesting...

Which metaphor are you referring to? This is by the way the zillionth time I am called a troll. After which bans followed from: physics (for asking fantasy questions and about the rishon model), biology (just for doubting the central dogma) , philosophy (a Kant guy didnt like my ontological relativism), skeptics, worldbuilding (for being smarter than a mod), economy (for doubt about the growth model), mathematics, astronomy (bad contributions while in reality a mod didnt like my knowledge about black holes), psychology, polotics, law, AI, and now a yearlong networkwide suspension. The argument of the troll is a well known defense mechanism. Is calling me a troll giving me the advantage of the doubt?

I can expose my ideas on every topic in a nice context, hopping from site to site; Im curious if I get banned here like on SE philosophy where some Kant masturbating figure kicked me out). And rightly so. A pity that there was Ronald Reagan to take that away from them.
  • Anti-vaccination: Is it right?
The vaccines have already been developed a some time before the genetically manipulated virus was released, by the pharmaceutical companies, from a phial. When enough people were dead, the vaccine was made public like: "We have found a vaccin for you!". The vaccine was already there before the pandemic. The companies fare well...

By the way, our dog was already vaccinated against Corona in 2008. A different variant though.
  • Who should be allowed to wear a gun?
I recently saw a great movie. Badlands with Martin Sheen and Sissy Spaceck. It is strange one sympathizes with a guy killing 10 people. But I pitied the dog that was shot by the "evil" father! He was claiming his right to live as he felt was right and killing all that came in his way felt quite Natural, to be honest.

Huh? Ronald Reagan supported gun control? (its funny that although I dont live in the US and never have been there I still know a great deal of your country). Because it were the blacks demanding the right to wear arms?
  • Anti-vaccination: Is it right?
Whats the big deal here? If you want it take it. If you dont dont take it.

Maybe on the short term all those vaccines work. On the long term they will produce weak people. And then the non-vaxxers will laugh.

You are a believer just as well. You believe they dont exist or dont bother. You believe that only a smaller part of the world is important for you. And rightly so. Realities are different. There is not one true and only reality.
  • Who should be allowed to wear a gun?
    criminalsNOS4A2

I think you are right to have the right to shoot despotes. But criminals? I wished they had shot that Trump guy. The Earth would be better off without him.

And you have the right to kill someone who wants to kill you. But someone breaking in in your house? Material things are no more than that. Things.Criminals wear guns too. Here in Holland no one is allowed. Neither criminals nor "normal" people. I feel a lot saver like that. You can kill someone with a knife too. But guns (and arms in general, like the Tsar Bomba) make it too easy. If I meat someone with a gun I ssy: "If you wanna shoot me, go ahead. The victory is mine"

Ah! I think its getting more clear now to me. I didnt know about the founding fathers that they thought guns helped people keeping the goverment in check. But does that still apply today? I watched (from my cosy sofa) the happenings at the Capitol. One man was shor dead (?). They were prepared to shoot Pelosi. Is that what you mean?
  • Can we see the brain as an analogue computer?

I think computers own their AI mainly on speed. The neuron firings in the brain cant compete with the computerclocktime. Nevertheless the processes are much more complicated.

Now Im gonna do something you dont like. How many innocent people got shot? One is already to much. You might day that they are killed by the bad criminal lunatic and that thats the reason you wear them. Its indeed always a good idea to have one around... Thats how I thought some time ago. But like that the killing never stops. And you have to start with yourself. If you forbid the manufacturing it would helo. The gun seems like the American drug. And drugs are not allowed in the US. I have found that strange always. Drugs are firbidden in the US and guns are allowed. I know which one to forbid.
  • Who should be allowed to wear a gun?
    irresponsibilitytim wood

All your (well meant!) rules can be replaced by one rule: forbid the manufacturing as well as the possedion. Like drugs. Easy enough. The enforcement and maintenance of these laws can be assured with...guns! In the right hands they can serve as a means of liberations from these cowardly weaponry. If you like them and want to shoot there are vitual reality games and toy guns. If you like the real stuff, go live in the dessert with others who like it. It would get pretty crowded there I guess. But dont wear them in the middle of other people who dont like them and get paranoid because of them.
  • Can we see the brain as an analogue computer?
    worksAlkis Piskas

Thats my idea too. Mister Hofstadter is a computer nerd himself. Thats why he looks in a rather biased way. Everywhere where signals are traveling he sees a digital framework.

Which is not to say that some analogue to outside processes can be found. I once saw the squares of a chess board litteraly light up on neural structures. There are almost infinite patterns to be made on the neural network.

"Hmm? Maybe you are right. Have more than 600,000 people been killed by guns in the same time frame that Covid has killed that number? (U.S.)"

60 000 per year in the US. In Holland (18 million people) about 100 each year. By whatever bullet. That would translate to 2000. Thirty times less! And why? Because guns is bussiness. One can make money with them.

It's a less massive killer but more persistent. If you look at 100 years it gives you 3 000 000 people dead. How many Corona victims are there in the US?

I demand animals should be allowed too. So we can all kill each other. I have read there are 60 000 people killed each year by bullets. More than Corona has done. Corona leaves with the tail between her legs.

And does the brain not direct the flow of information?

The brain only directs the body. And the external world and body direct the brain. The information just flows, like a lightning flows to Earth. No program involved. The fact that there are pulsed potential flowing ( very differently as in computers) can of course be compared with the zeros and ones in computers. Coincidentally in the digital computers and in the brain there are pulsed signals to be seen. Thats why the comparison is made. It turns out that working with ones and zeros (which are defined for computers much more stricktly than in brains; computer ones and zeros are abstractions of those occuring in the brain) is a good way to represent or simulate physical events. In a computer the 1s and0s are computed. That is a orogram is let loose on them to compute the next state of them. In a brain thats not happening. The information (ths brains potential spikes) are freely flowing in the neuronal medium, with no program computing their new state. The information just follows paths of least resistance. Just like real physical processes flow. N
Because of the huge number of connections a truly cosmic number of paths can be followed (a one with a billion zeros behind it!). Thereby facilitating the possibility to analogue represent all physical processes in the universe.

It depends how you view a machine. It is not nessesarily something made from parts and subsequently put in motion. People cant construct people. The brain is not set in motion at some point.
  • Can we see the brain as an analogue computer?

Isn't the planetary system like a giant clockwork. Without the planets being in contact? In that respect, my brain looks more like a clockwork. The BIG difference being that there is no spring (the voltage source in digital computers) driving the parts.
