Yeah, the cerebellum would represent us, whilst a more primitive mind would have resolved the external world to a coloured in and symbolized world.Pop

If it represnts us then who are "us" (we)? Personally I think we are just our body (without brain).

I'm not on your side concerning logic as interaction. Logic connects forms but in a restricted way.

My wife again: "get your ass from behind that phone!". Sigh...women. But its half past one already... ☺
  • The Definition of Information

Do you mean with "more sophisticated" us people?
  • The Definition of Information
Yes I should write something in more detail, I have still not quite put it together, and there are situations I am not certain about, yet!Pop

How do you envision the interaction?

That's the very essence of Christianity.
  • The Definition of Information
The proposed definition of "Information" is : the evolutionary interaction of formPop

    Not the evolution of forms?

You should write an essay on this topic! I see it interests you!
  • The Definition of Information
What do you think of my description aside from the equation. The comment below the question. I'm not too sure about this, but something of the sort would need to occur?Pop

I think it's very abstract but I can relate to it. Can you give a practical example? I don't see interaction is information instead of an intermediary between different forms (litterally, forms, like a circle or square(. The neural forms and forms in the ohysical world interact. My body lies between these worlds.
  • The Definition of Information
Yes I understand. But I find such equations frustrating, as no information can be retrieved from entropy which is chaotic.Pop

It's just a number. True info lies in the forms. Two books contain the same entropy but very different info. If one is a love story and the other a particle physics roman.
  • The Definition of Information
The obvious answer is - show me something that is not information?Pop

All things in formation constitute information. Thing not in formation don't.

Interaction is no information too. It merely takes care of information.
  • What is a Fact?
Do you think God interacts with his creation?Joshs

I hope not! Their creation alone suffices for me. But hidden variables could offer a means.
  • The Definition of Information
This interaction is information, and nothing exists outside of this interactionPop

Information is not interaction (the non-quantifiable info of the forms, that is).9
  • The Definition of Information
Can you please explain the logic that underlies this expression?Pop

The k is Bolzmann's constant. The N is the number of physical states that leaves the system unchanged. The ln is the Natural logarithm.

As you can read in my second part this information=entropy= a number (klnN). This is not the information contained in the forms, which is not quantifiable.

But I might drop a link here to an article that came up in an earlier thread in determinism.

Indeterminism, causality and information: Has physics ever been deterministic?
    Banno

Physics has always been deterministic. The wavefunction evolves determined. It collapses non-unitarily but hidden variables can rescue determinism and even offer a way for God to interact with his creation.
  • Why Was There A Big Bang
There’s been predictions of Armageddon, ‘the end of the world’, in Christianity since it started. How they deal with it is to say that the Faithful will at that point all go to Heaven, where they will all live forever. (although I also have to say the possibility of actual Armageddon has seemed chillingly real ever since Hiroshima.)Wayfarer

Armageddon will arrive 100%. Will it not be by human action (the chances it does appear by human action are in the present state of our planet fairly big though) than it is because the Sun will turn into a red giant. All life in the cosmos will one day stop to exist. Only to reappear after a new big bang behind us. Not to be confused with heaven though you can think of it like heaven.
  • What is a Fact?
Countering that with "no you didn't" isn't particularly effective. If you want to convince someone that their religious experience is not what they think it is, you have to offer them a different framework, and indeed people sometimes come to see their own experiences in a different light.Srap Tasmaner

Indeed, I came to the conclusion they exist, being a particle physicist and former atheist. But it's their creation that I like the best.
  • Why Was There A Big Bang
Unfortunately, since many of the posters on this forum are materialists -- with philosophical physics envy -- I am forced to deal more with the tangible forms of Information. But that's OK.Gnomon

Sounds as if you speak from a tower of saddened ivory. What's wrong with viewing the mind as settled in the brain? The brain is made from matter. The point is though that even particle physicists don't know what the Nature of matter is. I don't consider the brain as part of me. It merely helps me to live. For someone looking at me my brain is matter. For me it shows me ideas, gives me (the body) feelings and thoughts and dreams and fantasies or even gods (though I care more about their magical creation). Matter is only matter for hard materialistic physicists. To me, matter has content too. A content that sparks or lightens up the brain in me. And the physical world outside of me.

If you read my whole comment you see that it's basically the same. Only fixed and non-fixed.
  • Some remarks on Wittgenstein's private language argument (PLA)
For them self is not an entity, it is a constantly transforming interaction with world. They abandon the idea of outer and inner. The self is always outside of itself , coming back to itself from the world. To the extent that my use of social isn’t ‘normal’ it is not because it denies immediate expose use to an outside , an alterity , the foreign and the empirical, but because it is claiming such an exposure is more restricted to interaction with other ‘persons’.Joshs

"Them" are too abstract. "You" is just the bodily you, talking, feeling, gesturing, feeling angry or in love, seeing ideas and dreams and thoughts in your inner world, perceiving colors and forms in the physical world, etcetera. All thanks to the brain inside of you, that brain being the generator of your inner world, you in between this brain (inner world() and the physical world (outer world).

by the immanent extinction of its species?Gnomon

And why is this beautiful animal on the brink of extinction? Like many other species? Why has 10% of all biodiversity disappeared in 100 years?
  • Animal intelligence
I think you're overlooking the vast difference between human and animal language and thought. We can say something new any time we want. No other animal can do that, and the effects are enormous.Daemon

The difference ain't that big. All animals are culturally fixed. No language is needed. They understand one another without words. The communicate by means of body and sound.

Humans are culturally free. We need language to inform one another about differences and similars or changes in our cultures and clothes (all animals have fixed clothes and tools on top of fixed cultures). Humans speak to one another too with body and sound and vision. Humans cry. Because of mutual understanding and love and loss. Love, loss, understanding or loneliness have everything to to with this freedom of culture.
  • What is a Fact?
    What do they do?Banno

Frameworks make facts. A religious framework makes gods appear, a quantum field framework makes quantum fields appear. In reality.
  • You are not your body!
Nothing. But can you please tell me why you say "I don't consider my brain ...." Can you be a body and still have a body at the same time?Alkis Piskas

My brain is not part of my body. It's a mere aid. So I am my body. I don't have a body, I am my body. I have an inner world that I can use and that shows me things, like ideas or thoughts. It lets me perceive the physical world and it makes me feel. I am more than just matter. Matter is an abstraction. Something is taken away from it which is obviously present. Physics is nice but the vision that only quantum fields exist is an empty (though enjoyable) view.
