You might lose the blues in Chicago, or about as likely, get shot while they are robbing you of your bottom dollar.Bitter Crank
I'll take that bet. Chicago, is a safe town, just like Mayberry only a bit frisky! ;)

Oh how I wish! Please tell her Hello from me and share with her how much I miss her. (L)
I was there in February for a week and stayed at the Presidential Towers, taking the train out to Westmont and Hinsdale every day and back to the city at night. My Dad is in a Manor Care facility so when I go, it's a family event and a lot of pressure. I have found taking the train back to the city allowed me to decompress and fall back into the city groove by the time we reached Union Station.
There is something about Chicago and it's might that calls me home. (L)

Mr. Robot is one of the coolest shows but one of the creepiest as well. :s

  • Lefties: Stay or Leave? (Regarding The EU)
Democracy is a buzz-word, and and only starts to have real application when the constituency is already established. We decide, only when it is already decided who 'we' are. This makes a referendum on who 'we' shall be pretty much of a sham.unenlightened

  • Do we have a right to sex?
Sex is a normal biological function, meaning its pursuit and attainment is part of leading a normal life. Therefore, being deprived of this facet of life does constitute leading an abnormal life. Since every person has the right to a normal life, we all have a right to sex.TheMadFool

  • Do we have a right to sex?
We're allowed sex but others aren't obligated to provide sex.Michael
In this context, the facilitator may not be having "sex" with the client. We used to see people who have touch deprivation at the Chiropractic office and how a full body massage would change their stress levels in many areas of physical pain, aggression and overall feeling of well being.

I think it is reasonable to think that a person who is mentally 'normal' but physically challenged to the point they require an electronic, padded chair to move around in and an automated sling lift to get into a mechanical bed, is going to have a harder time finding a one nighter than someone who does not have this disability. Just because they cannot control their body or it's possible contortions, does not mean that the person does not have sexual urges, hormonal increases when aroused, desire to satisfy a very normal and important part of a person.

The facilitators are very professional about the set up, some countries like Australia cover a 'visit' every 6 weeks. They know how to work around some realities that others could not both physically and psychologically. Sometimes it is just a massage or cuddle session with their client and other times there is sexual intercourse, with everything in between.

It's really an amazing program that heads off a lot health problems for the clients as well as their caretakers, it truly looks at a patient as a whole and not just a condition.

  • Political Affiliation
Generalized label: Registered (D) usually vote Independent or (R) Dream Ticket: McCain/Lieberman
Form of government: Little oversight/more personal responsibility
Form of economy: Capitalism with shorter Patent terms
Abortion: My female body, my business. Abortions before 20 weeks is patients choice, after 20 weeks it is up to the discretion of a Doctor and patient, based upon health of fetus/expected quality of life.
Gay marriage: absolutely entitled to be a part of, though consideration of another 'term' might be appropriate
    Death penalty: in favor of
Euthanasia: Long overdue right for those who choose death with dignity. Three independent Doctor's approval and then the when, where and with whom present can be decided by the patient.
Campaign finance: anything over 10k in donations and candidate must list name and amount publically.
Surveillance: This horse has left the barn when you logged onto the Internet for the first time decades ago. It's gone, there is no going back. Coat your roof with metal shavings to restore privacy.
Health care: Total overhaul back to private pay on a cash basis. Medicare and Medicaid for the poor, the elderly and infirmed.
Immigration: Annual Country intake limits for legal immigration. But until you can change greed in man, there will always be illegal immigration.
Education: Retain public/charter school voucher policy, extend thru junior college, upper class university private pay.
Environmental policy: Leave the place on earth you reside on better for your having cared for it. You pack it in, you pack it out.
Gun policy: personal responsibility for personal protection, no logging, tracking or licensing unless or until firearm is involved in an illegal incident. The law stops at the property line, not at the threshold of the home.
Drug policy: Private pharmaceutical companies forbidden from advertising in all forms of media. Full stop. MAJOR reduction in drug patent times and a mandatory fair pricing, rather than being based upon "what the market can bare". Oh and in case you meant 'illegal' drugs? The war on drugs is a farce, it has never worked, all it has done is caused the evolution of designer drugs, to accelerate at a break neck speed to the point that turning to an illegal drug is easier to get and cheaper to buy than a pack of cigarettes.
Foreign policy: We have more in common with people from other countries than our respective governments have with one another and that is what we need to highlight, rather than our differences which is what they would rather us focus on.

A few pictures from my trip home. A frigid selfie as I wait for the train to take me back to the city from the suburbs, where my Dad is. The views of the Sears Tower are from the Air B&B apartment I stayed at while in Chicago. The top of the Sears Tower was lit in red for Valentine's Day as well as to draw attention to Heart Health. The last image is of a man and woman, walking arm and arm along the river walk in their Sunday best, as the rest of the city hustled by, in and out of Union Station.

  • Has Another Economic Crash Arrived?
I knew back in 2004, when a group of friends NicK and I, were standing around a campfire talking about where we were in our lives at 32-34 yrs old in comparison to where our parents were at the height of their working careers. While I realize in many circles it is taboo to talk about salaries, we had always shared ours without hesitation and still do. All of the men present were earning at least what their parents top salary was but most were making multiples of their annual salaries. Were we financially wealthy? Yes, in comparison to those around us. Was I embarrassed to tell my parents what we were making annually? Yes and I still am.

In 2008 we cashed out our 401k's to make payments for the deed on the ranch, while two of our friends were advised and decided to take the route of a 'strategic foreclosure'. My feeling has always been that if you give your word, you do everything in your power to uphold that word, including keeping our word to continue to invest in our ranch. In 2004 we were approved for a $999k loan for a home which NEVER in a million years, would we ever be able to afford if we took any kind of a financial hit. We purchased our ranch for $400k and at it lowest value in 2010 it's value was $159k. Now in 2016 it is projected to be worthy $375k. Has it been worth it to uphold our commitment on the deed? For me? Yes. Everyone around me says that I made an emotional decision about a financial decision which we are still paying for and I admit they were right. However after losing everything that was not living in a house fire in 2003, making a home that we could raise our family safely in was my first priority. Stability.

Having said all that, I know that there are other's around me, some here in TPF that needed more than the trunks of food and toiletries that were delivered to our ranch to keep us from going hungry. I am reminded that there are others who lost so much more, so, so, much more.

There will come a time when we will be able to afford health insurance, a second car and maybe be able to put both are Indians thru a University after they give me 2 years at the community college. I was raised thinking that college was as mandatory as primary school, I didn't realize that it was a privilege until I neared my Junior year.

I have learned a lot along the way, who my parents are and who I wish my children to be. Rich in health, love and happiness is all I wish to create. Utopian views I know but they get me thru the tougher times.

What exactly am I making up in my post?

And as an aside? Your constant need to label other people gets rather tiresome after awhile. I have overlooked it one to many times and on more than one occasion I have walked away from a response to you, because of your uncalled for names and unjustified labels. It is no different than another forum member using cross slang on another member for being an Atheist, every freakin time, someone that you have decided is an Atheist.
I have never once claimed to be a gun lover, a gun owner nor a person who can legally own a firearm. In other words the only skin in the game I have, is the right to bear arms, period. FULL STOP. So back off on the broad brush strokes and kindly stop cross contaminating threads with your self drawn, baseless conclusions.
    Thank you
