  • Welcome PF members!
I wonder if every PF member here also stops posting at PF but if they do, I also wonder whether Porat calculated that effect in when he decided to buy PF. Well, here's to 2 competing fora and that they both may prosper. I will stick to this one due to limited time although I'd probably visit PF for the wonderful archive it is.
  • How will this site attract new members?
Maybe so according to the notion that more = better, but the most fun times I had at PF were in '02-'05. For me, the discussions were more fun precisely because there were few enough people that I could actually read a whole thread instead of having to skim 10 pages super-quick.Paul

Same reason I feel I do have the time to moderate here. For me the golden years of PF were 2003-2007 I guess.
  • How will this site attract new members?
We need some more "lower quality" posters. Many of the current members are made up of a selection of the better posters from pf. Conversing with them may not be the best entry way for new members. We need people who are worried about solipsism, scepticism, have weird ideas about God etc. We need more people whose views are incorrect in obvious ways.shmik

I'd never thought I'd say this, but apparently we need Randroids. :-O
  • PF sold for $20,800
Even if it was just about money, that was perfectly within his rights too. I'm sorry to hear it was under financial duress.
  • Do we really have to have "likes"?
I strongly don't care. If there are posters whose delicate sensibilities are swayed by likes or dislikes then it's quite likely they don't have anything sensible to share, craving confirmation from the masses as they are. Those don't last on PF in the long run.

    It's a non issue really.
  • Missing features, bugs, questions about how to do stuff
Now I guess that the provider can give additional memory space, but that highers the costs.ssu

I personally don't think anything is wrong with advertisement generating some income for this site. I think a skyscraper add on the left or right would work fine without interfering with the user experience.
  • Mute Threads
Cool. It's like a negative bookmark, so functionally it shouldn't be too difficult I guess. We'll see.
  • Currently Reading
Currently reading: The Blade of Tyshalle, book 2 of the Acts of Caine quadrology.

I stopped reading philosophy or anything serious since I already read contracts or legislation at least 8 hours a day. I go bonkers without an escape into Scifi or Fantasy.

Look forward to philosophically useless updates by me in this thread! :B
  • Missing features, bugs, questions about how to do stuff
I enjoyed that too. We got quite a few things right when it happened. Not that it had changed the world a whit.
  • Do we really have to have "likes"?
I aim to have more likes than posts so from now on I'll only postulate acceptable theories even if I don't support them.

Ps: this works well on a phone too...
  • The metaphysical implications of disquotationalism
How does this suit you? "the chair exists" is true iff it corresponds to a directly or indirectly observable thing that answers to your meaning.
  • Do we really have to have "likes"?
If you don't use it, it's pretty much deactivated from your side. Meanwhile, enjoy your first like...
  • Missing features, bugs, questions about how to do stuff
If we're going to have Philosophy of Religion back, we should get KwalishKid back too.
  • Missing features, bugs, questions about how to do stuff
JamalRob is the new Porat. After seeing how simply we all gave up information to that Brooklyn thug, he thought, I can do this too and better by lulling them into a false sense of security.

You better not have used the same password for this site as you do for your e-mail or you're doomed...
  • Missing features, bugs, questions about how to do stuff
I just realized that if you hover just to the right of where it says "minutes ago" that the word "reply" will appear. I'll be a master in no time.Hanover

It actually appears when you hover over someone's post, not just on that specific space. And you quote by selecting the text at which point a quote button will appear near the selected text.
  • The Future of the Human Race
I care about some human beings...
  • Welcome PF members!
And here I was hoping the grumpy conservatives couldn't find their way to a snazzy, modern website like this... >:)
  • Missing features, bugs, questions about how to do stuff
It only counts because people persist in stupidity... definite no. X-)
  • Help me test
By the way, I have a website I don't use anymore called nousluminous.com (roughly intended as "we illuminate/knowledge lights us/we light ourselves" if you mix up the latin and greek) and the webhosting I have now is for 300 MB and 7 GB data traffic per month. The website and hosting costs me 20 EUR a year.

If I go to 30 EUR a year it would be 3 GB disk space and 50 GB data traffic per month.

I don't know how that relates to other offers out there but it's been stable.
  • Help me test
I've been terribly busy in my personal life but just wanted to let you know I support this initiative. I don't have much trust in the old PF site due to the manner in which the new owner is handling it - which is all rather unprofessional.

And this is the reason why I'm busy:
