  • Anti-vaccination: Is it right?

Please put me on your personal block. I have put you there already. I cant argue with fat stupidity...
  • Anti-vaccination: Is it right?

Others? Only one bloke who didnt catch my thoughts. I cant help it if he doesnt understand.
  • Anti-vaccination: Is it right?

God forbids idoltry (am I writing this correct?). All people should wear masks all tbe time. Only three tiny holes are allowed (five for those with astma).
  • Must reads
All writings of Paul Feyerabend. Especially "Science in a Free Society" and "Conquest of Abundance". Wilhelm Reich has written a fascinating analysis of fascism and Nazism.
  • Anti-vaccination: Is it right?
Placing myself at risk is one thing. Placing others at risk is another.James Riley

How do you place others at risk by non-vaxxin? It's only yourself you put at risk. And other non-vaxxers. But that should be no problem as you know how they are like. Just like you! Not wanting a load or shot.
  • Is agnosticism a better position than atheism?
Being agnostic means you dont know. Im not sure if thats the best way. I know there is (are) a god(s). But I ignore him and go my own way.
  • Should the state be responsible for healthcare?
In the Netherlands one is obliged to pay health insurance every month. I pay 125 euros. On top I have to pay 380 euros own risk! That last I really dont understand. The obliged part I just dont understand. Is the state caring for me or the insurance companies? I dont (if I want) get refunded a visit to many alternative ways of health care, even if more effective.
  • To What Extent is the Mind/Body Problem a Question of Metaphysics?
    The holy three unity:

The inner world (magic content of matter giving human consciousness), made possible by processes of matter, in neurons, analogue to the outside world.

The outside world made possible by matter and spacetime. Physical processes going on there relying on the innerworld's perception and vice-versa.

The in between world that is the you or me. This is the world of people. We are in constant contact with both at once. The both are shaped by one another and have there impact on the interface that we are. The intermedium flows through spacetime thereby experiencing processes of the inner as well as the outside world. We have, being the intermediate shells some control of both and are carried along at the same time.

Before human existence or creature existence in general, there was one world only. All three worlds were unseparated yet.
  • Is Logic a matter of Intelligence??
Genes serve one purpose only. The organism they are in. The main view nowadays is the other way round. That we are vessels serving the selfish genes (Dawkins and the likes, which are practically all biologists and other people).
  • What are the objections against ontological relativism?
    Definition of the physics reality:

-There exist 2 basic massless quantum fields interacting by 7 gauge fields. Their mass/energy curves 4d spacetime. The particles themselves are 2d forms of magic stuff. Curled up to Planck scale. Big bangs take place on a 5d negatively curved static substratum. A 5d torus with cut open outermost outside, streching out to infinity with a Planck-sized mouth. It looks as if 4d space is expanding.

    The Greek gods

The Greek gods live on the olympus. They are human like and various aspects of human life are present in different gods. The gods can be contacted. They quarel. The impersonal god of Xenophanes is still present in our day. He is called God/Allah/JHWH. He is omnipresent and omniscient and omnipotent. He is one. The only one without further discussion. All other gods are non-gods. He has the power to send you to heaven or hell outside our universe. Lucifer has his way too though. As a fallen angel he wants take over the throne of god. The angels are there to protect God. God created the universe, which appears to be eternal. But God exists outside of spacetime and has created eternal time. But not creation in a spatiotemporal way. God is love.

    Will two do?
  • What are the objections against ontological relativism?
To answer your question, could you define what you mean by a reality? An example of at least two types that fit your definition would be nicePhilosophim

There is the reality of physics, like the rishons, quantum fields thereof, played out on the underground of a (quantized) curved developing spacetime (itself influenced by these fields).

There is the reality of the Greek gods, to be supplanted by the horrible one-eyed monstergod with which Xenophanes had an unlucky encounter.

There is the reality of the Aboriginal dreamtime and their reality of a Natural world very different from the scientific one.

There is the reality of my girlfriend. I wont go into that one...
  • Death and Everything Thereafter
I expect death may answer that riddle for me.Dante

NO! Death does NOT solve that riddle. LIFE does!
  • Is never having the option for no option just? What are the implications?

I consider the ones handling the the guns (or any tech-weapon) very alive. Oppenheimer lamented himself for having become dead after his contribution to the bomb. So in a way you are very right indeed.
  • Who is to blame for climate change?
Is it possible, do you think it's plausible, that capitalism is just a way freedom manifests itselfTheMadFool

Nice story! When the wife arrived I already thought "ohooh...".And yes. The goose got killed.

But thats the other comment. Im not sure I see to whom you address it. To the people not seeing the shit behind a growing greedy capitalism or the shit behind socialism.

Now is capitalism a way to express freedom? Yes, insofar material needs are addressed. If done in the right way (everybody equal access, no one working like slaves, good healthcare, education, and homing for everybody, etc.) I dont see a difference with socialism. Socialism (or communism) dont allow for being rich though (although millionairs are abundant in China, their socialism being that all resources should be people-owned?). The Internationale is a great song. Im not sure though if the red pill shows the reality behind socialism. There is also a red pill for capitalism. If a few people own half of the worth of the global money spent every year while that wife on the other side of the street can make ends meat (800 euro per month) then something is wrong. Not to mention the effect a growth model of economy (more more and more) has on Nature.
  • Is agnosticism a better position than atheism?

In the article you linked to one can read:

Many of the mistakes we make when we experience emotions are due to the illusion of certainty they create. High adrenalin and cortisol emotions, particularly anger, create the profoundest illusions of certainty, due to their amphetamine effects. Amphetamines create a temporary sense of confidence by increasing metabolic energy production, while narrowing mental focus and ignoring or discounting most variables that might invoke self-doubt. That's why you feel more confident after a cup of coffee than before it. It's why feel convinced that you’re right and everyone else is wrong when you're angry.

So when Im angry Im the more convinced that what I think is certain (or when Im euphoric maybe). But when the anger (or euphoria) is *caused* (how I write Italics?) by me being certain or uncertain about something its a different matter.

I believe that thinking there is no way to be 100% certain is a belif too. Consider me to be the particle in the QM wave. With hidden variables though. And you are the wave (nice analogy!).
  • Can we see the brain as an analogue computer?
I don't know if this can help. But it is the least I can do for misinterpreting your "analogue computer"!Alkis Piskas

That helps indeed! Thanks! It looks indeed as that whats going on in the brain. Artificial neural networks are pretty good in "recognizing" patterns. I think you can see why. The networks are too straight in my vision (contrary to the lightning shaped real neurons). Im not sure if there is a digital program lying under ANNs. Thanks again!
  • Is never having the option for no option just? What are the implications?
But maybe the right thing to do is to turn the other cheek? I'm willing to consider that option.Tzeentch

That's what Jesus did. How noble it may be (I would be in awe if you really did that!), in reality, the gun (and less, the knife) rules suppreme. Cowardly as that might be, but I dont think a robber jumps you empty-handed. Well, he was empty-handed off course and thats probably the resson he muuged you.
  • What are the objections against ontological relativism?
I'm a beginner and I've not yet found out whether scholars have posited "ontological relativity" (my search engine is buzzing as it is).Fine Doubter

After all, particles that have no "mass" are themselves made up from some that doFine Doubter

  • Is never having the option for no option just? What are the implications?
I try not to 'assume' when it comes to matters about which some facts can be established.Isaac

Before every establishment of facts assumptions are made.
  • Is never having the option for no option just? What are the implications?
I try not to 'assume' when it comes to matters about which some facts can be establishedIsaac

What do you mean then when speaking about anxiety and excitement? Both exist independently of what we think about them.
  • Death and Everything Thereafter
There could be infinite, separate dimensions of time, all moving in discrete directions.theRiddler

Hawking invented imaginary time. The implications of multiple time dimensions have been probed. The block universe exists with the whole time axis present at the same time. Entropic time considers intervals of time only. Then there is the subjective experience of time. There is a neverending now. I dont live in other people. Everyone has their own cynosure. But how to transcend time? Everything becomes one in that case. How to achieve this? Even a baby isnt in this state.
  • Can we see the brain as an analogue computer?
Isn't this one more reason for not comparing the mind with a computer?Alkis Piskas

The definition of an analogue computer is not a device that actually computes (this makes the term confusing indeed). It is a device in which an analogue process to whatever external process takes place. Like the analogue computer used in representing a drop that falls from a tap (chaos can appear). There is a changing electric current representing the drops. Not a current based on 1 and 0 like in a d.c.
  • Is agnosticism a better position than atheism?
There is no way to be certain in making a decision without some degree of ignorance/exclusion. As I said, it’s about how much inaccuracy you’re willing to overlook.Possibility

If I pray to God Im 100% certain He exists. I dont pray (I dont care about Him). But if I did I would do it with full conviction. Not while thinking there is a 63% chance he doesnt get my message.
  • Is never having the option for no option just? What are the implications?
Anyways I want to ask you this: If a thief is about to stab you what justification do you have to stop them? Or is it not right for you to stop them?khaled

If the thief was my daughter I would ask her to stab carefully. Im her father!
  • Can we see the brain as an analogue computer?
mainly because they can't figure out, as pure materialists, where else these could be!Alkis Piskas

What scientists (I dont consider myself one although I know a lot about "the hardest" of them all, elementary particles and quantum fields in curved spacetimes, which made me realize there is more than matter and space inly) overlook is the content of matter. There is no memory like in computers (which is one of the reasons I consider the brain as an analogue computer, although litterally computation doesnt take place). The strengths between neurons (looking materialitically now) determine how the patterns flow freely, unforced by an external potential source. On the same set of interconnected neurons many patterns can flow.
  • Is never having the option for no option just? What are the implications?
There's no objective thing 'excitement', or 'anxiety'. They're both socially constructed models of physiological signals.Isaac

You assume both to have the same physiology. The raised heartbeat may be same in both cases. But thats about all...

Especially the second one is "nice"!

The reason for living? Ooof! In any case not to pass on genes or memes, like modern science says (embodied by people as R. Dawkins, who see people as a vessel for selfish genes........???). I think life itself is the reason. What's life itself? Magic!

Im not sure I understand. It cant be reincarnation. How can you live vicariously through (?) those surfacing (after you are dead?)?
  • Is never having the option for no option just? What are the implications?
there is no such thing as experience which is not constructed,Isaac

What do you mean by this?
  • Can we see the brain as an analogue computer?
    rememberAlkis Piskas

I couldnt remember anymore what the topic wss. I havent looked yet but I guess it to be information...

If you consider computers to be built because we wanna store information yes. A memory spot can contain the information of the places of black dots on a while board. All configurations contain the same amount of information ( the number of bits in the memory chip) but every memory is different. They are explicitly present on a memory chip. All of them can be present ina part of your brain too. The difference being that the neurons involved are the same, while on a chip the different memories are stored in separate parts.

No, of course not. I just think I’ll be replaced.Dante

Then whats the worry? We are all replaced by other people. In 100 years from now there will not a single person be alive that lives now.

Life's raison d'être is to copy itself; there's no statement stronger than "copy ME" to express self-love. Nothing is then more important than ME and to ensure my existence I want to copy myself!TheMadFool

Why do you think that thats the reason we live?. Sounds circular. Copy me?
  • To What Extent is the Mind/Body Problem a Question of Metaphysics?
One of the aspects of this is qualia, which is about being able to consider the verge between subjectivity and metaphysicsJack Cummins

Are qualia about that? Arent qualia things like sound and vision (the personal experiences aspects). Consider the body as that between inner world (content of matter) and outer world (ouside aspect of matter). The body is the interface of both and cant be separated from these two worlds (the brain in a vat is an impossibility).
  • Is never having the option for no option just? What are the implications?
Never having the option not to opt makes the option to opt a superfluos option to opt for for the option not to opt for an option to opt for no options unless you always wanna have the option to opt for options you wanna make options to opt about.
  • Death and Everything Thereafter
My thoughts on death in particular frustrate me to no end because I’d prefer non existence to be eternal and peaceful, but I can’t see this being the case given that I even surfaced in the first place.Dante
