I am going to use an old politician's response to your employment of repetition EugeneW.universeness

If it's justified to return the accusation I do. And it's more than justified. Science has done no good.
  • The Invalidity of Atheism
But if on the other hand we be destructive, fame can easily be had. My generation knew who Lee Oswald was, subsequent generations know who Richard Dawkins is. One destroyed a president, the other is destroying religion.Gregory A

Damned! I think Im gonna call you a comrade!
  • Mad Fool Turing Test
Who was your teacher? What gives you certainty about this definition? Why did you accept this definition? Was this the only definition you were givengod must be atheist

I saw it in a dream and during this thread it got more articulated. Im writing a short story about it. Its like the gods had contacted me. Which is difficult for them. I have to warn the homonids. The homonid gods were involved in creation too. Leading to troubles in their development of love and hate particles, needed for the creation of the universe. They (knowingly??) fucked up a bit. Psychosis!
  • The Invalidity of Atheism
I am learning more about your approach all the time EugeneW, you ask questions that you already know the answer to.universeness

No! I truly don't! I dont give a fuck how old I get and are absolutely not interested in prolonging my life scientifically.
  • The Invalidity of Atheism
This approach is so tedious, computer memory does not consist of a single chip so what are you talking about?universeness

About the maximum memory of a computer. The number of 1s and 0s to be stored.
  • The Invalidity of Atheism
This reminds me of a quote from Carl Sagan's movie 'Contact.'
If we are the only intelligent lifeforms in the whole Universe, it seems like an awful waste of space!
You seem to be wastin space EugeneW.
    universeness

I could tell your hero the whole universe is filled with life. Life in heaven is much broader than even in the visible universe exists. There is much more life beyond the horizon.

The most dangerous species is still the scientist.

person who merely gets comfort from belief in an all-powerful supernatural superhero that's going to protect them from their primal fears and award them existence for eternity after they die.universeness

That's a charicature, a panto cheat! Why you think primal fear is involved? I could say the same of theism...
  • The Invalidity of Atheism
Einstein was not an atheist, which doesn't make him a believerGregory A

He believed in god. Said even he dont play dice. Thats an inspiration for his science. He believed, and I think rightly, QM isnt the final answer.
  • Mad Fool Turing Test
Depends. Define god.god must be atheist

Well, not like your avatar. And by definition, they are no atheists. Heaven just looks like the universe. All creatures developed in it have a godlike counterpart. Virus gods, mamba gods, homonid gods, take your pick. What if they got bored of making love and hate eternally? They decided to create a copy of heaven. A collective enterprise. Now they just watch us. Themselves. Only, we lack the power of creation.

Aren't you a bit religious?god must be atheist

A bit? Totally! Do you deny the gods?
  • Mad Fool Turing Test

    Believe me. I know.

Speed is all computers got. On a memory chip you can store 10exp24 bits? Compare with the brain: 10exp10exp20. I know a computer, no matter its fucking speed, sophisticated programs, or quantum sophistry, is no conscious being. Consciousness can't be programmed. Anyone believing that deceives themselves.

Things get scary if real persons give the impression to be an AI... Like most grown ups.

Real AI is simply obelized. It can't cover a true consciousness. Real people, on the other hand, are more difficult to fathom. Are they deprived of conscious being? Is that what their programmed behavior and speech show?

  • Mad Fool Turing Test

Let me play the brain's advocate. The brain being accused of being digital. It's actually a very dìfferently operating device. The 1s and 0s in a brain are actually very different in nature than those in a computer. There run concentrated spiked potentials on the neurons. These are constituted by traveling pulses of ions rushing in through small channels. A traveling inward rush. Autonomously traveling. And already there is a big difference. The 1s in a computer are actually voltages over the whole wire. The voltages force the 1s, while the 1s in the brain travel on their own not being pushed and pulled by a program of voltages (the program). The spike-potentials dont travel according to an external program pushing and pulling them.
  • Philosopher = Strange Identity
Wait a minute! What if some audacious philosopher, knowing ultimate laws of everything must paradoxically fail, intentionally sets about attacking the quest for a theory of everything, being fatally curious about the nuggets that shower forth from this Hadron Super-Collider of a theory?ucarr

So he attacks that quest while he actually wants to see one at work?
  • If One Person can do it...
The truth is true. But what is it? One god, many gods? If one person can do it, so can the collective of universal life.
  • If One Person can do it...
From my experience, those who do so are lay persons who do not understand that quantum mechanics is math.creativesoul

That's exactly my point. It's not math but what the math describes. Hidden variables are one possibility. And exactly these can be used for those in prayer.
  • Philosopher = Strange Identity
Isn't asymmetry how the Big Bang got triggered?ucarr

I think that were the circumstances of a previous bang running to its end. There were no internal asymmetries, so to speak. While foiling the standard approach to the unifying theories, being pessimistic and not seriously about it, you can actually arrive at a unifying model.
  • If One Person can do it...
but those who take quantum mechanics as fodder for deep-seated beliefs in non physical entities do not understand quantum mechanics or particle physics anyway.creativesoul

Where do you base this on? Who says they dont understand anyway. As if You understand it. Dont think so.
  • If One Person can do it...
I've no reason to agree with this presupposition. I'm agnostic on the issue of the origin of all things. Could not care less reallycreativesoul

Than there is nothing left to say dear reader...
  • If One Person can do it...
Yes, I know that subatomic particles don't really reside in one location, and it doesn't really help to talk like that, but those who take quantum mechanics as fodder for deep-seated beliefs in non physical entities do not understand quantum mechanics or particle physics anyway.creativesoul

This remains to be seen. When the gods created the world/universe, they made use of a very special ingredient. Hidden variables. It's by means of these they can reach us. Actually interfere with their creation. Though its hard.
