  • The American Gun Control Debate
    Why?Baden

Because I believe that we should be able to protect our citizens with equal force.
  • The American Gun Control Debate
Is it an infringement of 2nd amendment rights in general?Baden

    On it's face, no.
But you have to understand that I never saw my 2nd amendment right being taken away the first time.
  • The American Gun Control Debate
Just answer the question, please. Is it an infringment on your 2nd amendment right that you can't?Baden
How do I answer this? My 2nd amendment right was taken away from me, on a Federal Level, as a private citizen, remember?
  • The American Gun Control Debate
Is it an infringement that you cannot own a machine gun or a bazooka? Would you like those in the hands of the general public too?Baden

What I would "like" and what the reality is are two very different things. If you are legally able to own a machine gun or a bazooka, who am I to make it illegal? I am a registered voter and it would be there that I would have to make my feelings on that known.

American's are pretty logical people as a whole and as citizens, we would rather our Peace Officers be able to meet a "lunatic" with eqaul or overwhelming force in an altercation.
  • The American Gun Control Debate
How about the right to walk down the street without the possibility of some lunatic with an AR15 coming the other way at you?Baden

Is it a diagnosed "lunatic"? Because if it is, then there are laws in place that says they cannot legally own a firearm, though I am not sure what the clinical definition of a "lunatic" is.
  • The American Gun Control Debate
No, it's not at all for the reasons I gave above.Baden

The firearm was and will continue to be legally registered with private citizens in the state of IL until June 13, 2018. How is possessing the same firearm on June 14th suddenly illegal?

Because there is a change to a law, which is an infringment on the persons rights that existed on June 13th, 2018.

Why is that so hard to acknowledge?
  • The American Gun Control Debate
First of all, it's only assault weapons,Baden

Can you acknowledge that it is an infringement?
  • The American Gun Control Debate
First of all, it's only assault weapons,Baden

I said assault rifles and hey it's only a slight infringement on our 2nd right.

Second of all, it's one town. Kudos to them for standing up for common sense and decency.Baden

Following that reason then it would be okay for one town to slightly infringe upon our 1st Right to say the word "God" in public.
  • The American Gun Control Debate
Let there be no doubt.Gun confiscation would have to be administered by force of arms. I do not expect that those who dismissed their fellow citizens for clinging bitterly to their guns are so naïve that they imagine these people will suddenly cease their bitter clinging when some nice young man knocks on their door and says, “Hello, I’m from the government and I’m here to take your guns.” As though somehow those who daily espouse their belief that the purpose of the Second Amendment is to allow citizens to resist government oppression and tyranny will not use the Second Amendment to resist what they see as government oppression and tyranny. Or maybe they are so naïve."ArguingWAristotleTiff

The slippery slope has taken another slide down in regards to the 2nd ammendment right by Deerfield, IL banning assult rifles. It will lay out for all who have suggested the USA simply do what Austrailia has done and witness the utopia that will ensue for our society at large.

No, they won't be taken by force but rather the government will bleed you dry financially instead. So law abiding gun owners, will be mandated to turn in their legally registered firearm by June 13th, 2018 or face a finacnial penalty. Seems fair right?

Maybe I will be proven wrong. Maybe the retired folks of Naperville wil be standing next to the MS13 members, in line at the city court, turning in their unregistered, never to be traced firearms. Time will tell. Time will also show the drastic reduction in the homicide rate in Chicago by confiscating the good guys guns.

I am proud of you and so very relieved that things concluded on a solid note with your Mom and to get back with your sister is an awesome plus!
You have done the work, the very hard work that many never face and it shows. One day your inner work might manifest itself in a son or daughter of your own and that is when you will really see how well you have healed and become stronger for having gone through what you have.
I must disclose that I have a proud smile on my face right now for how you handled yourself.
    Well done~

Good lord! I have been buying into NicK's bs that he is a perfect person and everytime he has told me that since we were married. Are you telling me that there are men out there that know they have faults too? :brow:

A couple people here know that I make Heirloom Jewelry and I have been working on a piece for my Mom who turns 75 today! Such a vibrant soul, always tan, always smiling and genuinely giving of herself always. Her favorite place to travel is Hawaii, her favorite color is yellow and she only wears gold. The cameo in the center is a focal bead that is frosted glass with a freeform flower on each side and in the back, near the clasp is a little gold heart locket that was her Mother's. Perfect for her to wear and pass down to one of her Grand Daughters. Oh and I sent a card around the United States to get everyone's greeting on one card! She's gonna love it!

I think you will impress yourself with how much you have grown and how much has stayed the same. If I were near you, there would be a container of Hagen Daz Chocolate ice cream on ice and a single Star Gazer Lily surrounded by greenery and baby's breath. Be well, stay strong and remember, you have changed and if you like who you are, then any problems another may have with you, is their problem, not yours.

  • Why is it that we often think about the past?
What is it about the past that fascinates us? Why is it so hard to just “leave it all behind?”Abdul
I carry this on my profile and explains one of the main reasons I am here and one of the reasons I cannot "leave it all behind", for I am still creating home, here, as well as in face to face life~

"We are all longing to go home, to some place we have never been, a place half-remembered and half-invisioned we can only catch glimpses of from time to time. Community. Somewhere, there are people to whom we can speak with passion without having the words catch in our throats. Somewhere a circle of hands will open to recieve us, eyes will light up as we enter, voices will celebrate with us whenever we come into our own power. Community means strength that joins our strength to do the work that needs to be done. Arms to hold us when we falter, a circle of healing, a circle of friends. Someplace where we can be free. - StarHawk"

I am currently going through a process of applying philosophy into the real world, moving up professionally and teaching myself to better myself. I have never felt so at peace, months have passed and not a moment of anger or sadness, just peace. This Friday, I am meeting up with my mother who did quite a lot of wrong to me as a way to learn how to apply forgiveness for wounds that are very deep, because forgiveness is something that you give as is love. Authenticity is simply a way of thinking.

We love you  This place wouldn't be the same with you floating around sharing the spaced-out sexiness that is you. But I am almost certain that you are even more caring and kind in reality since places like this really never do a person justice, so I can imagine how much you mean to your family and your dad. I wish him peace.
    TimeLine

Thank you for your wishes for my Dad, I am forever grateful. :hearts:

Healing the child within in one of the hardest things to face but I have a feeling you will do so with the grace and authenticity of the woman you have become. You are likely to shock her with all that you are, all that is before you and the wonderful life you now have.

Forgive? Yes. Forget? If you can figure out how, please let me know. The closest I got was compartmentalizing my past, taking the strength of character that it built within me and place that chapter of my life, on a shelf, tied with a bow, ready to be pulled down if necessary but I have never felt the need to do so. Every so often I catch myself making sure that chapter is still there, maybe to remind myself of the strength I needed to get through that and come out a smiling and loving person. I have a feeling you will see more of the beautiful person you already are~

The quiet thread in the sea of debate. I wanted to let you know that on Easter I approached my Dad about his stuborness and he made it clear to me that he wants nothing to do with hospitals or Doctors. My feeling is, even as he gasps for air as we talk, that he is in fact chosing his way out, doing it his way.
I will say that I won't ask him to do more to stay here but I will support him in what he chooses. I know that I couldn't have made it to this early position of acceptence without @Hanover @Bitter Crank @unenlightened @Sir2u @Agustino @Lone Wolf @TimeLine @T Clark

Ahem...3 seconds in and there is an advisor. :gasp: I'll follow along without the pictures.
  • Israel and Palestine
I am afraid to watch it. I have this unappreciated power of seeing something once and never being able to get it out of my mind, even years later. I walked out of Bambi in the forest fire scene and I couldn't finish the Lion King after he chased his brother off a cliff to be eaten alive.
Please advise me: is this a video that has hard to watch images?
