I think you're probably right...I just hope we do rebuild our economy in order to be more self reliant (or at least diversify supply lines ) in the future. We need to be less dependent on China and the EU, that is clear.
  • Brexit
The real joke here is that the media political class pretend that they are really upset about Cummings breaking lockdown rules whereas the reality is that they despise his politics, foresight and drive. They know he will do a good job with Brexit, he will not extend the transition period.

The good news is that this saga is exposing the media for what it is...
  • Coronavirus
The lockdown needs to end before it wipes out the economy. As an example, the roofing firm that I work for has had two large jobs cancelled, one for a business within the aircraft manufacturing industry and another on a school. Those jobs would have kept me busy through most of the summer, now they don't exist and I'm furloughed. This is not sustainable and the longer it goes on the bigger the damage to the economy...the economy pays for your religion the NHS...

The only good news that I can see coming out of this mess is that we redirect our economy to be less dependent on China and the EU.

The political left are directly responsible for untold economic misery and the death of millions...but that doesn't mean that I don't believe there should be rules for the benefit of people within the capitalist system (minimum wages etc).Being on the political right doesn't mean you believe in a complete capitalist free for all.

I think Johnson is a libertarian. He's a bit of a political shape shifter though ...but luckily he's also a bit of an egoist which , imo, means he will try carry out that which he has promised in order to look like the conquering hero. I like the way he has stuck with Cummings regardless of the pressure and the loss of support, it gives me faith that he is a man of his word. Cummings is despised by the remainer establishment because he will get Brexit properly done ...Johnson sticking with him shows his courage and intent imo...good signs.

The media in the UK keep bleating on about Cummings breaking the rules, they pretend they speak for the people and that most people are angry...this is disingenuous...most people in the UK have been breaking the rules, not just Cummings. These rules were created to be broken...to a degree.
  • Brexit
One of my best mates is a bit of a lefty ...he's vegan and pretends to be hard left to his wife (who is hard left lol) ...but typical virtue signalling lefty that he is he's climbed quite a long way up the greasy pole of the multinational capitalist firm he works for...we generally get together to see a gig...less chance to talk, apart from taking the piss out of each other and reminiscing.

When it comes to politics he's always been wrong...he's clever in many ways but politics ain't one of them lol.
  • Coronavirus
So the black death mkII has killed 1 in 1300 people in the UK...over half of which were 80 years+ old and well over 90% had serious underlying illness. MkI seems to have been a bit worse than mkII...but those on the political left still seem to be shitting themselves and want us to remain in perpetual lockdown . The left loves locking society down it seems.
  • Brexit
"Punshhh aren't you too good for Southend, being from North Norfolk?"

...and there you see the real face of the left...the left despises the working class.
  • Brexit
The British population tends not to blindly obey rules, it's part of our nature...I think Cummings knew that when these rules were applied . We are not like Swedes who wait for the green man light to let them cross the road, we are not like the Germans who obey the strong leader when he bans jews from park benches...we are different from them , we believe in the rights of the individual to push the boundary of rules which are very often crass and badly thought out. I think many of the lockdown rules were there to be broken, it is obvious that we have to build an element of herd immunity.

For leftists it is different, they tend not to be as bright as they think they are, they follow rules like the drones they are, and point the finger like little Stasi slags when someone breaks the rules who they don't like. .
  • Brexit
If it wasn't for the English the Scots would now be living in a socialist hell hole ruled over by a Franco-German empire lol. Thank God for the natural , sensible , conservative leaning of the English...the jocks will thank us later...once the morons realise that Braveheart wasn't real lol.
  • Brexit
There's an old British saying..."Many a true word spoken in jest" . You weren't really joking were you.
  • Brexit
Watching the press conference with DC, he's pissing all over them and their 6th form questions. The British media really are a pathetic bunch...hopefully he'll punish them in time...do away with the license fee for the bbc would be a great start. Let some time pass ...revenge is a dish best served cold after all.
  • Brexit
Lol, surprising how many labour party members , students, union members and other assorted morons there are...none of whom matter because they never vote Conservative!
  • Brexit
That ends up being the left's answer to all the problems it is incapable of fixing...that's why anyone with a brain despises the leftist scum that crawl out of Western universities and infiltrate the establishment.

The left is now the establishment , the establishment the enemy of the people.
  • Brexit
It seems that the real story behind the DC debacle is emerging. Underlings within government were attempting to extend the Brexit transition period (obviously with the aim of keeping us within the EU's orbit for ever) whilst Johnson and Cummings were ill...Cummings put a stop to their treachery and this is why they are using their friends in the msm to attack him now. It looks like their attempt at a coup has failed...and most British people couldn't care less whether Cummings pushed the limits of lockdown rules...because most of us are already sensible enough to be doing that too.

We have a leftist deep state in the UK too it seems...drain the swamp Boris!
  • Brexit
But the SNP form of "nationalism" is bat shit crazy...you will end up being a tiny cog in a big franco-german machine rather than a big cog in the back of the English lol.

Modern nationalism is different...it's not like your leftist internationalism, it doesn't seek to expand in the form of empire (like your leftism) and modern nationalism is intensely democratic (again unlike your leftism).
  • Brexit
I make a prediction that the EU will buckle (I think they've already conceded on fishing)...they need treasure Island. If they don't ,even better, I want the UK to be far less dependent on the EU...they have never been our friends. They can carry on with their wilting dreams of socialist empire building .
  • Brexit
I'll make a prediction for you...the jocks will not vote to leave the UK in my lifetime...they are all talk and bluster. I hope they do leave but I'm afraid that they are too dependent on us (they benefit from the UK tax system at the expense of the English, we're by far their biggest export market and the rest of the UK supplies 90% of Scottish tourism)...most of them also know how useless the SNP is. It's a shame, but there you go.
  • Brexit
Lol...I'm sure the EU has enough members that are complete economic wackjobs, what makes you think they want to add Scotland to the list ? I really hope Scotland switches from English "domination" to real German domination...most English would be happy to see the back of 'em, a weight off our shoulders.
  • The ABCs of Socialism
The post was humorous and Elon Musk is most definitely intelligent, otherwise he wouldn't be where he is.

Leftists are obsessed with money, they see it as an expression of power...so Marx explaining time through the concept of making money from clocks is a bit of a laugh.
  • Brexit
The way this virus is playing out the last thing we are going to need are vast numbers of eastern Europeans (or third worlders for that matter) milling about in a society with huge numbers of people out of work. Same goes for the rest of the Western world too. Free movement must end, anyone with common sense can see that, it's just that Brexiteers were ahead of the curve, we could see the problems that are inherent to open borders...especially in times like this.
  • The ABCs of Socialism
It seems that socialists are obsessed by money, to them it all comes down to money and how unfair it is that some have more than others...whereas people like me really don't give a fuck if others have more than me.

This summed it up well on Elon Musk's site...EX-JA_QUEAA4HB8?format=jpg&name=large
  • The ABCs of Socialism
You asked why it would be bad not to have a profit motive...money can be seen as a way to store wants, in such a view the will to profit is no different to any other desire.
  • The ABCs of Socialism
Lol, well feel free to go and live in your wonderland...I doubt if they'll have you though mate...they don't like gobby opinionated types.:)
  • The ABCs of Socialism
The coop helps fund the Labour party...but the coop itself is a capitalist business.

My mate's son in law worked for them too...awful business, low pay and understaffed.
  • Coronavirus
Lol, you're not too bright are you old fella! You're at higher risk because over half of deaths involve people over 80 and alcoholism can be seen as a chronic disease . Have you noticed that many people over 80 are already in a poor state of health, often due to over drinking?

Found this image on twitter giving the death rate for different ages up to the 5th of May...you'll see that the risk of death for the young and healthy is tiny....EYTMa_-X0AEtt9W?format=png&name=large

PS, for your information anything over 80 is a good lifespan...
  • Coronavirus
I only have your word that he is a "professional in the field" , but that aside you notice that the "professional in the field" doesn't say that I am wrong insofar as it is clear that the vast majority of people that die with covid 19 are already seriously ill. This final fact is the one that you are trying to deflect from in your drunken haze.
  • The ABCs of Socialism
Countries that leftists like to describe as socialist are not. Sweden, Germany, Denmark etc are not in any way socialist...they just spend more of the capitalist cake on public works.
  • The ABCs of Socialism
Socialism is the concept that the workers own the economy. It's a bullshit idea that never works. Also when people point to China they conveniently forget that China has prospered by
stealing Western ideas whilst sub-contracting for it. China itself is not a place for building and developing new ideas because the state can just take them from the individuals who build them at any time...that's why socialist states end up falling behind Western states.

    Socialism kills individual endeavour.
  • The ABCs of Socialism
Teachers are over-rated. Most have very little real world knowledge when it comes to the subjects they teach. As an example a friend of mine had to do a business degree to progress where he worked...he was taught a load of leftist bullshit that he'd already discounted with his own work experience...he went through the motions and got his degree though.

Teachers in the UK basically have to fuck the kids to get sacked.
  • The ABCs of Socialism
I'm just pointing out that socialists , for all their demands for fairness in society ,have no problem sponging off of those who earn less than them . Teaching is basically a closed shop unionised protection racket...teachers are virtually unsackable, that's why there are so many shit ones.
  • Coronavirus
I didn't realise that this was a discussion over whether I have misused certain words...a bit of worthless point scoring ...but ho-hum...at least most people have the ability to acknowledge that the seriously ill are the main victims of covid 19.
  • Coronavirus
I know what they mean...but 90 odd % of people that have died in the UK were already very ill...hope that's simple enough for you.
  • The ABCs of Socialism
I think talking to leftists is a complete waste of time...they invariably learn nothing from history. The old leftist ideas died for a reason...people didn't like the results, the ideas didn't die because normal people were brain washed by the right...a favourite leftist fantasy.
  • The ABCs of Socialism
In the UK the left dominate areas of government employment , for instance teaching. I read once that teachers used to be the biggest single group within labour party membership. People on the left (like most teachers) have no issue with people like me (in the private sector) paying large amounts of tax to ensure that they (teachers) have a much better pension plan than I could ever afford.

So when you're talking about people not getting the full benefit of their labour maybe you need to take a look at who is benefiting most from the labour of others...it ain't just the bosses. Bear in mind that there are half a million teachers in the UK...that's a lot of people like me paying their pensions....and they are getting 100% of their wage during furlough, I get 80%.
  • Coronavirus
"@frank has a medical qualification and is working in a hospital treating covid patients. If he says chronic, it's probably chronic."

Ok, let's put it this way, covid 19 seems to kill people that already have a bad underlying health problem...for instance, it seems that 25% of people that have died in the UK have diabetes, I believe 40% had dementia . Risk of death amongst 90 odd percent of the population is very low. The top number for deaths in the UK so far (and this number will almost certainly end up being too high ) is 50,000 deaths (15,000 deaths higher than government figures). 50,000 deaths in a population of 67 million equates to 1 in 1340 of the population...given that those people dying are almost always very ill anyway... it's hardly the black death is it?
  • The ABCs of Socialism
The basic thing is that the more sociable you are the more you'll probably like work (unless your work is a solo endeavour).
  • Coronavirus
No,acute...otherwise they'd be millions dead in the UK alone...
  • Brexit
Do'h, I'm failing to make the connection...
  • The ABCs of Socialism
I brought up the subject of law because I'm sure I read that computer programs are better than lawyers...

My wife works in a care home, she has a real work ethic but she says some people there just go through the motions...usually not useful motions either. Those people are a minority though.

I'm sure I've read that during war only 10% of troops do anything useful...but I guess as some get killed the less useful become useful..trained personnel fill the void.
